how to have less problems with latest conquest patch

1) do a clean install ..uninstall plain civ3, ptw, conquest, all the patches, etc,,.

2) remove any civ3 folders from harddrive

3) installl plain civ3

4) install patch 1.29f for plain civ3 (One Note: If you hace civ 3 gold, you dont need this patch

5)install conquest

6) install patch 1.22 for conquest...

all patches found on civfanatics web site

you do this and u will see less problems when u play conquest...the reason for the clean install is you never want to install patch 1.22 for conquest over beta 1.15 ...it will cause problems...

enjoy

yes u should install patch 1.29f after u install plain civ3 to be safe, then install conquest then conquest patch 1.22

That's what I do, just for consistency. (you never know if a file was left out or not).

Ditto on the no problems with installing 1.22 over 1.15 beta, i've completed 2 Huge-mapped games without any problems (other than the known bugs everyone's having)

I always thought, that conquest included 1.29f . :hmm:

Actually the smart people at Firaxis didnt include the latest vanilla patch to their latest expansion.

You can play epic without 1.29f, but some scenarios wont load ( missing .bic will appear)

PS: what fabled PTW extra ?? I thought CQ contained it

PPS: even if there are extra I wont buy that PoS anyway

I have encountered only one problem, and i dont know if it is due to me multi tasking between playing and surfing the net ALT+TAB, but I have had the game disappear without an error message. No problem since there is auto save and i always save or stop playing my game at the beginning of the turn.

The way i went was
Installing Civ3 GOLD
Then conquests upgrade.
Then 1.15b
The 1.22

I will re-install CIV like above, not going to install patch for CIV Gold.

Hi jbmagic, maybe you should edit your post to explicitly say not for the GOLD edition as it already has 1.29f patch. I know you say "plain" but i think people are not reading this right and saying you don't need to because it comes with the patch already, where people with plain may not listen to your advice, being confused by other people below.

Thanks for you advice too :D

What sort of problems have people encountered by putting 1.22 over 1.15b? I've seen nothing.

like someone said, depends on your version, I have the spanish version and crashed every time I clicked on the scientific specialist so I uninstalled Conquests, PTW then vanilla CivIII plus all the patches, reinstalled everything plus the latest patch ONLY for each version and THANK GOD everything is fine so far!:D
