Hi all! So I've just started back into civ 5 again with my latest pc build:

i5 kaby
1070
Dell 27" 2k 144hz G-sync

Everything runs great, but my gpu sits around 90% or more usage while Im playing and its giving me a whopping 200-300 fps with boosts of 900 in some places. Lol I cant think of a reason why I would need that much fps in civ, and I would rather my gpu wasnt spinning full blast for these marathon gaming sessions.

Ive tried lowering the refresh rate in game to 30, 60, 80 etc. but that just makes everything laggy and its a bad visual experience, AND it does nothing to reduce my gpu usage. Ive tried vsync on and off with the same results.

Anyone know how to limit the fps for civ 5? Thanks everyone!

Solved. go to nvidia control panel - manage 3d settings - find civ 5.exe - scroll to the bottom and change vertical sync from "3d app setting" to "on". Luckily my friend showed up and had the fix shortly after I posted this thread

Cheers everyone
