How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

That's when I just click on "Assign," but that isn't right, apparently I'm supposed to pick the thing first (#3 in your pic) but there isn't an option menu there. Here is an attached picture, I've circled the area where something is supposed to be and there isn't anything there...

I figured it out, you wanted me to combine it with the head (you said body) but I assumed you meant torso. So I got it to show up now.

Alright, you said to attach the Torso to the Torso, but there is no "Torso" option. There is a spine option, and a clavicle option, but no torso option. So what do I do in this situation?

Spine, clavicle?

sorry spine - in col they have different bones(it seems they use the same boning as units). clavicle is the shoulder.

Yeah and when I said "body" I meant the original model (head and hands in your case).

Ok so now you've added it to the skeleton. (this is a good time to make another back up version make it adifferent file though, we still want the the other one) Now get rid of the hands and then export and we go to nifskope.

Alright, so I've removed the hands. I've attached an image of what it looks like now. I have NEVER used nifscope at all. And in fact, am pretty sure I have to download it...

Okay, the strange thing is that there are no GustavVDD folders in my windows explorer at all, which is where the file is supposed to be. But I can open it in blender. What's that about?

EDIT: I'll try and load a nif from another file... Yeah, I could load your Marcus Aurelius just fine. Then again none of the nifs I made appear in the blender folders (in my windows explorer), in fact the folders that blender says it is in (see any of my previous screen shots) don't show up either!

make a copy of the original VDD and open it (prefereably in a folder with the art files - you can copy all of VDD and name it gustav if that works for you.) NOTE: DO VIEW BLOCK DETAILS! Open this copy of the original VDD nif & open your exported blender nif of gustav. I usually keep them side by side. Now do these steps:

1) click on the VDD niTriShape (highlighted blue on the LEFT in my screen shot and then right click until you see the box with options (in black on the right side of my screen) choose 'Remove Branch' - this will get rid of the original body.

2) click on the VDD niTriShape (highlighted blue in on the RIGHT in my screen shot and then right click until you see the box with options (in black on the right side of my screen) choose 'Copy Branch' - this will copy your new body body.

3) click on the 'scene root' of the original/LEFT VDD. Then Right Click until you see the box and choose 'Paste Branch' (see picture, more follows)

Now in picture 2
1) click on your new body of VDD. you'll see details open up.

2) click on materials and you see at the bottom more details.

3) the three lines here you'll adjust for the shaders. For now leave it as is and save it. You can go on to add the hat in and everything else or set-up the xml and test in game.

When in game you'll see if its real shiny. if so lower the glossiness to 10. you may also need to add specular color. click on that stuff and mess with numbers. you can do this while the game is still running, make a change in nifskpoe save it, and ten just refresh your civilopedia by clicking another leadr and then go back to gustav.

After doing all this, you made your first leaderhead! Congrats, now go make a Capo Leaderhead gallery :)

Just to get this straight...

you can do that basically I don't want you editing the ORIGINAL VDD. YOu are now making Gustav. So copy all of the original VDD stuff and put it in your Gustav folder. You are also going to need to put it in a game folder somewhere to test it in game to. you can start this now. In this case you can put it in the empty VDD custom assets folder in colonization so that when you view in game VDD it will test your gustav (later you can rename the game VDD nif to gustav when you setup the new xml)

I'm sorry to say this, but my screen looks NOTHING like yours. And it also looks like the body of my guy on the right is very small in comparison to the body of the guy on the left. I think I probably screwed something up somewhere!

- changed the background color.

-open block details (View->block details)

-use scroll mouse to zoom in your guy (dont worry they are the same size)

-also if you opened your exported nif without being in a folder with the art it will be all white, even if you open the original second. Its a quirk of nifskope. you can close all nifskopes. open the copied orginal one with the art files then your exported nif.

I'll be a here a few more minutes if you can give it a shot
