How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

Thanks Ekmek! I'll come back to this later though, after I finish up Dusan and Yaroslav. Get that all done with and clear my mind for this one. The good news is after all that I'll be free from these damn European modules and I can go back to fun (non-joblike) leaderheads. I was thinking of doing Askia or maybe Nasser next.

I am not able to import NIFs. Could you help?

Did you do the cancel stuff?

-Install blender first
-install the nifscripts into the same directory
when blender starts you need to
-Run the import and export script at least once to register the scripts in Blender's configuration system:
File -> Import -> NIF -> Cancel.
File -> Export -> NIF -> Cancel.

I hpoe you are trying that Brazil guy by putting Caesar in a suit. It would be a good basic start.

What do you mean "the same directory?"

And yes I will do the "Brazil guy" (Juscelino Kubitschek).

When he says same directory he just means the same folder blender is in. That's all. So when you install the nifscripts make sure they are in the same directory/folder as blender is in. Which will allow you to configure blender to use the nifscripts, otherwise it won't be able to "read" them.

When I try to Import NIFs, they are not listed as there. I put the scripts into C:/Program Files/Blender Foundation. See screenshot.

Thanks for the help. I am determined to make a LH :lol: even with my pathetic computer experience.

Ekmek you are going to have to handle this part, I just did as you said and it worked fine for me at this stage. I don't know what he did exactly.

I probably screwed up the installation some how.

BTW, I installed Python but the script that comes up keeps saying no Python found. Maybe that has something to do with it?

thats the problem. uninstall blender and install the python first. then reinstall blender. i fthat doesnt work let me know.

Should I install Python 2.5 rather than 2.6?

EDIT: I installed 2.5.4 and it picked it up. However, I put the nifscripts into C:/Program Files/Blender Foundation/Blender, yet I still can't import nif files. I'll try some stuff, but I'd like your guidance.

You should start over fresh again and follow the instructions in Ekmek's leaderhead guide powerpoint. That's what I did and it worked for me. That would be my suggestion. I don't really know much about computers so I can't really help in the technical aspects too much, but when you start making LHs that's when my advice might be helpful.

I did not get the python from the blender pack. I went to python.org and downloaded it. It is compatible, the script box says so.

EDIT: I think I know the problem: when I try to install the nifscripts, it says that I don't have blender. Let me try to install them in a zip file and simply extract them.

EDIT: No, it is still not allowing me to import .nifs...

EDIT: When I try to install the nifscripts, it says I don't have Blender, yet I do. What is wrong with this thing? I even put it in C:/Program Files/Blender Foundation/Blender...

hmm. which nifscripts version are you trying? 1.5.7? You are using blender 2.43 (in my pack) or 3.48. I think the latest python has a problem with blender (which prevents the nifscripts) because i tried on another computer a few months back and had to use an older python with blender 2.43 for some reason. I believe i used python 2.4.4

we'll get you through this
