How to make more realistic wars in civ

I like the idea of a food cart, but just imagine how bothersome exploring would be. Your exploring warriors would either have to turn around halfway, or you'd have to send a food cart to them if you don't want them to starve to death. I think smaller stacks or individual units should be able to supply themselves when on fertile land. So for example if they're standing on a tile that has a yield of 2 food, then it can supply for 2 soldiers. Food carts would still be implemented of course. It would also make tundra and desert warfare more interesting. Actually, why not make the food cart into a transport cart? In warfare you can use them to carry food to the troops, and in peace time you could let it send materials (hammers) to growing towns, and food to growing towns.

Perhaps scouts and explorers could have special property that they would not need the food chart, but all other units would ?

I think that you can attach a unit onto a Ship to give it more str. Such as Spearmen or Archer to a Galley. Also, you should be able to capture ships using land units on ships.

I kind this idea. When you defeated a naval unit, there should be a 20% of capture, except transports w/ land units and modern naval units. Also, the captured ship must be repair in cities in order to be operational again.

1) The city has a major religion different from the State Religion. To make this work, there should be a religion bar, similar to the nationality bar. For example, like we currently have 88% German and 12% French, the religion bar would have something like 56% Islamic, 24% Jewish, 15% Buddhist and 5% (none). If the State Religion is Buddhist, that city will generate religious unrest at 65% per turn.

Sorry to bring up an older post, but I really like this idea. Because with this in play, you actually have to pay attention to your religions. In history, leaders didn't just decide to drop religion and after 10 years of not being able to build anything everything went back to normal, no! Leaders were killed, Nations split apart and brother killed brother. Those are the kind of things I would expect from a major civics or religious change.
