I recently downloaded a wwii scenario from the site. after i played it, i re-downloaded my Fantastic Worlds data onto my file, and replaced everything it asked if i wanted to replace. However, now i'm playing GOTM 75, and some of the pictures and stuff are still left over from the wwii scenario. also, whenever i load a game, it tells me there is something wrong with my 'events.text' file, and it still displays this picture from the beginning of the wwii scenario before the game starts. help please!!

Does that mean you installed this scenario in your main Civ2 folder? Don't do that! Scenarios should go in their own subfolders. Fantastic Worlds already does that with its own scenarios as you can see (it puts them each in their own folder in the "Scenario" subfolder of Civ2). That way they don't interfere with the main game.

FW is an add-on to classic Civ2, so I assume that re-installing FW only won't actually replace all Civ2 files, but only those that actually changed between those versions. The two last things you mention, the title screen and events, wouldn't be overwritten in any case, because the main game doesn't have these files normally. They're only used by scenarios.

I suggest you re-install Civ2 altogether, both the original and the add-on(s) you have.

Before you do that, though, re-download the scenario if you don't still have it somewhere and unzip it in a separate (!) folder. Delete all the matching filenames from the main Civ2 folder. That way you'll also get rid of the stragglers such as the scenario's title image.

There isn't? And you're sure you got the Fantastic Worlds add-on? Legally? The whole point of that add-on was new scenarios and added scenario support.

But then that doesn't matter too much. Even if you don't have the scenarios that came with it, FW still supports scenarios, so you can just create that scenario folder yourself and stick your scenarios each in their own subfolder there.

you also need to recognize the distimction between scenario and mod-pack.

mod pack would use the overwrite method you described and more than the usual files would be customizable (like lets say the background image to the civilization score page). \In these cases, you need to keep a copy of the core civ files in a backup folder.

Scenarios on the other hand do not replace any files at all and are basically what mercator said, you can have more than 100 scenarios installed all at the same time, each playable one after another with no file swapping.
