How to spot resources faster?

Whenever I develop a new tech that gives me knowledge about a new resource, I have to go look through the entire world map several times to spot where the resources appear. Especially on large and huge maps it's really getting on my nerves. Is there a faster way? At least in civ2 there was a way to make everything else but the terrain disappeare, so if theres such for civ3 it would make noticing resources a lot easier.

If you've already explored the entire map (or if you bought it from the AI), you don't have to do it again. The resources that you "discover" when you gain techs are visible on the map(not the minimap). In case of cities, just right-click the city and get the information you want. Hope I've helped.

You can also go to the Customization and Creation subforums, and find a resource mod that makes the resources more visible. I have used these in the past, and any one of them does pretty good.

Another thing you can do is open the domestic advisor and highlight the resource in the list and it will tell you what city it is in. This only works if the resource has been roaded already though.

:ninja:

If you are scanning on just the map alone. There is a graphics Mod Pac that changes the resource graphics to have a icon over the resource so that it would be easy to find.

There is a small button on the mini-map(label is G; I think) frame. If you press it all the cities & improvements disappear.
