Some map threads feature big, beautiful screenshots of an entire world map, like this one:

How can I make such a screenshot? Thank you for your help.

I use a program called Fraps for screenshots and screen captures, you can get in close or zoom right out (see attachment)

I believe that the game engine has a key combo for taking a screenie of the whole map, and that's what I think he's asking about.

Yep it does but I find it doesn't always work in all situations, I thought maybe that was why he was asking.

No, I don't know the key combo to take a screenshot of the entire map. I assume that there must be one, and have been looking for it, but I haven't found it yet. So that is exactly what I am looking for.

I know the Print key makes a regular screenshot of the game, but not how to make a sceenshot of the entire map.

Sorry was near my bedtime last night, when I read it again this morning I realise I don't know of a key combo. As far as I know you can only use printscrn but is this thread any use to you?

Thanks. I found the thread via a search already, but it is of no use to me. I don't know what they are talking about, exactly - they are not expressing themselves very clearly.

One guy suggests using the military advisor screen for making screenshots, but when I do that, I don't get map screenshots that are as detailed as the ones in the thread.

I really wonder how that nice, detailed screenshot of the Giant Earth Map was made (the one I linked to in the OP)...

not sure if this is what you want, but I retire on the first turn and then take a screen shot of the map that is displayed when you retire. then I open it in paint.net and crop it so it's just the map by itself.

Yes, I've been doing the same thing. But I don't think it's how the screenshot I link to in the OP was made. That one must have been made with a different method.

I'm guessing that map you show was created by putting together pieces from multiple smaller screen shots.

If you look at the Zanzibar tag and the 2 near it, you can see a slight vertical offset in those 3 tags near the right side of the Zanzibar tag and down through the other 2 and also on down at the bottom of the map directly below: this is probably a slight vertical alignment error created when assembling the map from multiple pieces.

You're right, there is a slight offset there. The picture was created by putting together several others. Thank you for pointing that out.

Damn, I thought there would be an easy way to make such a nice, detailed map screenshot!
