Couldn't find this in the FAQ, and search did me no good. Is it just "Print Screen" button? if so, where is the shot stored?

Joe

Sorry, can't get that to work. I've tried F12 as well as the separate "Print Screen" key. When I open up Paint, there's nothing to paste, either by the shortcut or drop-down menu. Do I have to keep C3 running? I haven't been able to figure out how to go back to the desktop without quitting the game , so I have to quit before trying to display the shot...

Yeah, you hit "PrintScrn" (NOT F12) in game. Then, you can either hit the Windows Key (by Ctrl) to back to the desktop, or before you load C3, open Paint, so you can Alt-Tab out of it (hold Alt, tap Tab to switch between programs). Then just paste it.

So you'll:

1: Open Paint.
2: Open C3.
3: Press PrintScrn.
4: Hold down Alt, press Tab to get to Paint.
5: Edit -> Paste
6: Save Picture.
7: Upload.

Make it easy on yourself. DL Irfanview (free). Choose the Capture option and set it to Shift F12 for full screen hotkey.

Now you can use the hotkey to capture the screen and it will already be in Irfanview. You can then have Irfanview set to make it a jpeg. This will only need to be done once.

It has a resize option that you can change the screenie to 800 and save as to someplace.

Ginger ale - Thanks, I'll try it. I THOUGHT I had tried to alt-tab, but it didn't work. We'll see...

vmxa - I forgot about Irfanview! I had to use it to get shots in WoW. Maybe I'll try that!

Well, I'm quite frustrated, and I feel like a complete moron. I simply cannot get anything to work.

1) My printcsreen key does absolutely nothing, in any circumstance. I hit it, alt-tab, enter paint, which was already running, and there is nothing to paste. It's npt lit up in the dropdown menu, and ctrl-v does nothing.

2) Irfan view doesn't want to do anything. I reassigned the capture option to shift-F12, and it does nothing in Civ3. No file is created, and I can't see anything in Irfanview itself.

Thanks for your help, but I'm about to say screw it.

Joe

When you open Irfanview to set the capture hot key, check that the screean area is set to whole screen. That is on the left upper section.

Bring up CivIII and then do the hot key.

Got it! Something is wrong with my F12 key - I reset it to Shift-F7 instead of Shift-F12, and it works!

Thanks for your help!
