How to take and post screenshots?

F12 is the hotkey for quick load. If you have made a quicksave, you will be very unhappy when you hit F12

Irfanview is the hands down best picture viewing software ever made. I use it for taking screenshots.

open Irfanview and hit "c," alt-tab back into the game and hit cntr-F11. The screen shot is then presented in Irfanview and you can crop/edit/resize etc and save it to whatever directory your prefer

Press print screen, saves the file in My Documents, My Games,...etc. You need PS or Gimp to open it. It removes the mouse cursor, which is nice.

Ya'll know you can change Steam's hotkeys right? I changed the screenshot to ctrl-F12 to avoid the quickload issue.

Easiest solution would involve altering the CiV hotkey - otherwise Xfire is a dainty ingame image-cap site I use from time to time.

-> options
-> interface options
-> Turns between autosave: set to 1
Max autosaves kept: set to 99

The default for screen shots is
C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ScreenShots

I use Irfanview and just save them to desktop then delete when done.

You have two options for uploading.

You can click the paperclip icon and it will bring up a menu where you just navigate to wherever the pic is and upload it. Your post will show a thumbnail of your pic and have a link under it to open the pic.

or you can upload the pic to something like Photobucket. Click in the icon that looks kinda like a mountain with the sun in it. This will bring up a menu where you paste the hotlink to your photo sharing service. This will give you a full size imbedded image. To be polite to other users, it is a nice idea to shrink the image a bit or put it inside the "spoiler" tags

Yeah I have some issues with posting screenshots too. You can't just press printscreen in a fullscreen Steam game (the outcome is a black picture), so you have to use the Steam screenshot button (mine is F12) then upload it to the Steam cloud, then open it and copy url then post it here.
But seriously, too much work, if someone knows a quicker way would be very helpful.

edit: joshua ninja'd me. I didn't know they were saved in that folder, that helps a lot, thanks.
