How to ...?

There are a few things I can't figure out. First, on the advisors, how do I display ALL the opponents I have embassies with? I've eliminated almost all but some still don't show up. Also, I've uncovered the whole map and still can't find one civilization. I laid waste to them long ago but they still exist but seemingly without a city. Is that just a glitch?

Hi, welcome :wavey:

F4 isn't limited to civs you have embassies with. It shows all civs you have contacted. However, the F4 screen only has room for eight leaders - you and seven others. If there are more than 7 opponents then you have two ways to reach the hidden ones.

1. Use the 'D' button on the bottom right mini-screen. This will open a dialog box where you can select a leader to talk to.

2. In the F4 screen you can Shift-Control-Click one of the leaders (or a space where there could be a leader). This should show a pop up menu of leaders - look aound, because it doesn't always show up right under your mouse pointer. Select the leader you want to show and her face will appear in the place you clicked, replacing the one that was there, or taking up the empty space.

On your second question, if a leader is still around but has no visible cities then he's probably wandering the seas in the form of a settler in a boat. You'll have to seek and destroy using your own boats, or wait until he lands and builds a city.

Thanks for the info. It's the Russians I can't find, so I guess I should make up a small fleet and use aircraft to search large areas. How do you "unload" a plane on a carrier to run recon? She's been on the run for a very long time...my game is at 1936 now and I destroyed the last Russian city around 1800.

I'm surprised if she doesn't have a city after all this time. If you haven't triggered domination but have wiped out the rest of the civs then there must be a lot of empty space for her to settle. First off you should check if she has a city hidden away somewhere. If you have an embassy you can click the E button near the D button and go through the motions to carry out an investigation of a Russian city. If she has one then it will be listed. You can then investigate it and that will tell you where it is.

I'm not sure of your options here, as the only settler-afloat situations I've had I've known where they are. Can you talk to her in F4? Do you have espionage? Maybe a spy will help to find her, as you can find out the Russian troop locations.

By the way, there's an option in the game setup called Respawn. If that's switched on then a civ can be reborn after being destroyed.

There is nowhere to settle. I kept everyone off me and spread like the plague, then started taking over each civilization, one after another. Still battling a few of the big ones right now though. I don't think she has anywhere to settle. I'll see if the spy thing can find a city I've somehow overlooked.

Did you turn off domination victory then? If you have more than 66% of the land you win. Game over ... unless you are playing on.

It's set to conquest only.

A simple "Investigate City" will tell you if she has a city. You don't even have to pay for the investigation.
