Hi all,

This is a map I've been playing (and constantly changing) for about 4 months. I forgot where I got the original map, though it might be the one with 18 civs. It has many civs (16 or 17), with most major ones such as France, America, Turkey, Arabs, Japan, China, England, Spain, India, Russia, Persia and some others.

There are many cities (over 50) placed on the map including many barbarian cities, on the correct spot. I've given Nation names to most cities so you'll see many cities with names such as England, Scotland, Ireland, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Mexico, Vietnam etc. Of course they are not perfectly accurate in location, for instance I had to move Ukraine up a little for practical reasons.

Every civilization has their respective religion. English, French, Spanish, American, Russian, Dutch are Christians; Turks, Persians, Arabs, Mongolians, Ethiopians are Muslim; Chinese are Confucianist; Japanese are Taoist; Indians are Hindus; Native Americans are Jewish. I have used the Jewish religion here as a pagan religion of the native americans. Holy cities are Mecca (Arabia-Islam), Italy (Barbarian-Christianity), Tokyo (Japan-Taoism), Delhi (India-Hinduism), Viyanapour (India-Buddhism), Guatemala (Native American-Pagan), Beijing (China-Confucianism).

I also edited the map itself a lot. I added (subtracted) plots to continents, reallocated resources and so on. Mostly due to practical reasons and also to balance the civilizations. The island of Britain, and Japan are highly inflated for instance to allow the respective civs to place at least a few cities on them.

I have played this map with many civs and game balance is fine..I think you'll like this one give it a try..and let me know how you find it.

Cheers.

I'm confused by a number of your naming/placement decisions.

For instance, why is Madrid in Portugal, and Barcelona in northern Spain, while you have "Catalan" where Barcelona should be? Wouldn't it make more sense to make Madrid Portugal, Catalan Barcelona, and then have a barbarian northern "basque" city? Or better yet, make it Bilbao and give Spain 3 cities, like the rest of Europe.

Why do the Japanese get 5 cities, including Korea, the Nigerians 1 city, and the Americans 3, all of which are in the wrong places? Why Monaco over Milan? Why are there two Ukraines, neither of which is in the Ukraine? What's in the Ukraine that isn't Ukraine?

Why wouldn't you making a Viking Civ that gets Norway/Sweden/Finland, and you put Finland on the Baltic, where it belongs? Why would you have a Quebec and a Montreal where Toronto is, which pushes Toronto too far West? Why is Quebec a French city but Toronto isn't English?

I just don't understand what the premise is for this map. Many, maybe even most of the cities are in wrong locations, the civs are unbalanced, and there are many opportunities to create more civs on a huge, barbarian-infested map.

Why not preplace cities all over the world ?

Of maner that settler hould be useless and making by default *unrazeable cities* ?

I will get a try....

Why not use a 40 Civs or 50 Civs .dll ? You could avoid barbarians

Paydro,

Of course they are not in the exact spot they should be otherwise it would be wasteful for resources. Monaco is indeed in Northwest Italy but moving it a bit west (maybe 2 spots) would put it too close to France and Spain.

2 Ukraines is a mistake obviously, the barbarian one should have been Lithuania. And yes again Ukraine is way north of where it should have been but I've put it there considering proximities to other cities and resources. Same goes for Toronto, Vancouver and many other cities.

What you said about the Spanish cities makes sense, I personally will change it for my next game. Spain actually has 4 cities, it also has 2 cities in South-America.

For Vikings, its all about choices..I did not put them to allow England and Russia (and possibly others too) to grab a few Scandinavian cities and expand.

Japan actually has 6 cities. The reason is it tends to fall back in the long run when confined only to the island of Japan. So I've placed a few cities on the asian mainland.

There is no Nigerian civilization, there is a barbarian city named Nigeria close to French West African cities. Every civ in the map has at least 3 cities, many has 4 some 5.

And finally please treat this map as a template where you can customize it further on. I am constantly making changes on it as I play with different civs.

Lachlan,

30 civs really puts strain on my system especially towards the end of the game, thats why I prefer slightly less than 18 civs. That way you also have an option to create a few more colonies if you want.

Unrazable cities might be cool, makes sense. You can do that by selecting custom scenario before playing the map.

Why not taking this map and preplace these 14 civs as you intend ?

And you can rename civs, leaders, and adjectives just by opening the file whith notepad

On Wikipedia that is an article on World in 4000 BC, should be very useful for you ?

its a Christian one, never heard about what the Turks did to Armenians because they were Christian?

Also, Mongolians are Buddhist and Ethiopians are Christian. It's still a cool looking mod, despite a few little details like that.
