Should we punish candid honesty on the part of our presidential candidates? Or do we value our presidents . .. .. .. .. .-footing around various issues?

Honesty is in no way a desirable quality for an American politician. American politics are all about the politics of destruction. Republicans lie to attack, and Democrats avoid the truth for fear of it being used against them.

I think it was Isaac Asimov who wrote that there are three signs of disaster. The first is the subtle and innocuous but meaningful event whose consequences may not be obvious, but in hindsight is a clear sign. The second is relatively plain and obvious but the entrenched forces mean that it will be ignored by those with power. The third is when you actually go over the cliff.
