Hulfgar's Modpacks - Industrial and Complete Edition

I like the idea of wonders adding at least 1 tourism point...they really ought too. Do natural wonders do that at this point? I've forgotten as it's been a little bit since I played Civ V.

- 3 units per title. Very cool, I liked, and AI use very well.

There is a mod out there, I think by Whoward, that allows for different amounts of units per tiles. I use the 2 units per tile mod, and it's awesome. Very little in the way of bottlenecks and the AI actually seems to guard the siege units more effectively.

I had an issue with the Nuclear Carrier. I upgraded it so it could carry an additional 3 units. I could only carry three anyway. In long games this mod rules. I adds a lot of depth.

Hi all,

I will have a look in it : if it's only a change in the units per tile value I can add very easily.
If Whoward had to code some changes in the AI to make it use this feature intelligently I will leave it to each player to use his mod.

Ah man...this bites. The graphics for the farms looked so amazing and now I'm back to the dull vanilla farms.
I bring it back whithout problem if whished :)

oscarpalaciosru thanks for the reports I will check those issues.

Chief501st for your crtash issues did you checked your save game file size?

Double checked the Nuclear Carrier. Actually, the problem is: by default, with no upgrades, the carrier simply won't take any aircraft units. I *had* to upgrade my carrier (Flightdeck upgrade, if I remember correctly) for it to be able to carry any units. So I upgraded to level-one and it could take one aircraft (and one only); upon level-two upgrade two aircraft and so on.

Last night I was playing and I was under the impression that I could upgrade my submarines to Nuclear Submarines, but I hadn't enough uranium. I ended up with a total of nine nuclear submarines and eight nukes with a 12-uranium supply.

This mod makes pretty much the changes, that I would make, if I was a modder, getting the things, that seem "wrong" in unmodded Civ V, "right".

Hulfgar, I don't know about the progress with your BNW version, so here are just a few translation issues I stumbled upon in the G&K version:

The resource "Weizen Bier" should be called just Bier.

"Schwerewaffen Fabrik" should better be Schwere-Waffen-Fabrik.

The unit "Gezogener Lauf" should be renamed. That's rather a tech's name than a proper unit name. "Gezogener Lauf" is a "rifeled barrel" of a cannon. The improvement lies in the special method of treating the inside surface of the barrel, if I understand it right. You could name the unit Schwere Artillerie, perhaps (Heavy Artillery):dunno:.

And speaking of cannons: what a strange behavior of that Gatlin Cannon man. This guy range-fired at my submarine:shake:. How can he dare? I guess that's the original code from the basic game, that allows for visible submarines on a coastal plots. I wouldn't mind at all, if you would change that in subs always invisible for land units, if possible.

And one minor bug, which probably has been reported before: partisans created around a conquered city like to stand on water hexes. But apart from that, there was no bug or a single crash in the entire game. Which I finished a little low on wood…;)

Plz don't change the mod so you can have more units on same title. If you do, make an option to have it enable or disable plz.

MY save file is over 2gb's and I recently reinstalled civ 5 to try and see if it would work but it still crashes when it tries to load the settings for the mod in the mod user panel. Could the OS be a problem because I am running windows 8 even though it's very similar to windows 7?

Hello Chief501st,

not sure for the OS and I don't think so as long as it is not a Mac.
Can you send me the log files please ?

Apache don't worry, should I ever code the mod for 2 units per tile it will be easy to revert.
But with Whoward's Mod allowing that I don't think that I will change my mod.

Keinpferd dankeschön for the tips, and I will make the changes in the BNW version and update the GK version asap.

I choose Weizen Bier because the resource used in Civ5 is wheat and not barley (and because it is the bier I prefer :) )

What do you think of "Feldkanone" for the "Gezogener Lauf"? I do agree that this term is more a tech name than a unit name.

And speaking of cannons: what a strange behavior of that Gatlin Cannon man. This guy range-fired at my submarine. How can he dare? I guess that's the original code from the basic game, that allows for visible submarines on a coastal plots.

yes it is. I will see if I can change this.

partisans created around a conquered city like to stand on water hexes.
Yes I've noticed this as well. I will have to find a lua coder to see if it's possible to avoid it.

Oscarpalaciosru which version are you playing and do you have other mods enabled ? (just to make sure)
I quick tested both modern carriers with IGE and they worked fine, respectively loading 4 and 5 planes. Could you send me a save game please ?

I bring it back whithout problem if whished :)

It is greatly wished for!!

As for the UPT issue, I'd probably just stick with Whoward's MOD as it doesn't cause any problems with yours and works well enough. The AI doesn't seem to have any problems with the 2 UPT that I know of. I've not tried more than that, but 2 UPT seems to be a nice compromise.

Would it be possible to make gatling guns and machine guns purely defensive? Would be a great way of preventing abuses like shore-to-ship ranged attacks (unless a melee ship attacked a city housing a gatling gun or machine gun) AND using them to bombard cities.

Would it be possible to make gatling guns and machine guns purely defensive?
yes it is easily done. The big drawback is that those units would be useless to defend a city.

Version 3.1 beta :
This is an attempt to fix the save game bug. I've found a wrong line of code in one of the sql files of the postmodern part of the mod.
Because this bad code did not show up in the error logs, and because it is in this specific part of the mod and in one of the files that I changed since the last G&K version I have some hope that this is the reason for the corrupted save game.
This version 3.1 is for players who wish to test it (I will not have the time to it before a few days).
Other changes in 3.1 :
Leopard1A3 with proper markings as modern armor for Portugal.
Some corrections in the german translations (thanks to Keinpferd).

That is a save game bug, not the same bug but from an event or someting. I have had it. Save game upp to 8gb! before I closed civ

I still get the Uhulu [sp] bug when I generate new maps in World Builder, so I'm not positive if the save game bug is fixed by 3.1B - I'm going to play a Grand Campaign today, maybe 200 turns or so, to be certain. If I don't get the bug by the end of the day, I'll let you know Hulfgar.

Traditionally I've gotten it on every game I've played by turn 90 or so. If I don't get it this time with 3.1b, then you've done it.

True that...Guess there isn't really a 'happy' medium for these two units. Wish there was a flag that could prevent them from bombarding cities and naval units though. Would be nice.
