Actually when you destroyed the AI you ended the game. If you want to go for space ship you leave one AI city alive, then build up as you said.
What you need is a save literally just before you killed the last AI city. (maybe you have one just before that and you can recreate the endgame)
500a and 1250a might be ok, have to ask the Duke

his poor little phalanxes are surrounded by horrifying greek musketeers.
i laugh at him because he occasionally attacks my men.
and every time he does i reek my terrible vengeace against him by laying his pitiful city to waste!
it's pretty fun.
anyway, that's fine, i wasn't actually planning on submitting my first try. -_-
are some of them more like scenarios?
like ice planets, or water worlds?

Good youve got the concept of a pet city down
now you just have to save on the end of the turn before your spaceship lands!

Is it otherwise an idea for us (only if Duke can't make a new one) that we make a new one. That way we can at least play.

Ummm.... November is gone now. Since Duke's computer issue is still afflicting him, might this not be the time for somebody else to be proactive?
