"I can/cannot run civ iv on my computer" thread

I know like three people share my notebook card, nvidia GeForce FX Go5200. So has anyone tried the game on this card yet? (Mine is 32MB, but I know a lot of you have 64MB.) I'm too scared to open the box right now.

I'd guess you can run it. Not very fast , but probably possible at low settings.

Don't say that are intell video cards a problem ? I ran the minimum requirements prodram and it said it's fine I have T&L (whatever that means. Does anybody know if an Intel 82845G Graphics controller is good or bad ?

Tugger:
I did a quick googling and apparently Intel Graphics Controllers do not have T&L. I'm not 100% certain though, my connection is very slow so I read only the few lines below every search result.

Game "locks up" on Select leader screen. Computer then requires a "hard reboot"
Sony PCG-GRV680
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000
Pentium 4

After about a 12 hour investment I was able to run the Tutorial without any problems!!!

The following ATI graphics driver will work for the Sony VIAO PCG-GRV680 laptop computer and can be found on the Sony website:

ATI Radeon Mobility 9000

Driver Date: 7/30/2003

Driver Version: 6.14.10.6382

Thanks Eli,

I'm all paranoid now because the system requirments program told me I did have a T&L card. ARRRRRRRRGH now I'm freakin' out

I have P4 2.4 ghz laptop with 512 RAm and 32 meg Radeon 7500 and it does not work. It will boot up, but characters missing faces and black background. This is disappointing, as Civ used to be for those who didn't own gaming machines.

This is what I get too, the faces were kind of funny. Oh well, our cards tried but no luck.

Perhaps this help,s try not being a clevery dicky with "oh, but i got this version of DirectX"

Sometimes even the same versions can be diffirent, so isntall the Civ4 DirextX, if it has one. It will surely fix some trouble.

Yes use Omega ATI drivers. not official, but designed to function. keep fast write disabled on anything less the 9800 pro. Whats T&L stand for anyway?

I have the same graphics card as Skeletal, a Ge 5200, with 32MB memory. If you turn the graphics options to low, it is playable, but runs quite slowly. Patience will have to be the order of the day.

Civ 4 seems to work for me. I haven't played for long (as I REALLY have to get back to work), but I'm able to roam around the map, zoom in and out, and build a city.

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop with:
Pentium M 1.5Ghz
1GB RAM
Radeon 9000 Mobility 32MB

I notice that the box says that the minimum graphics card is a 64MB card, but mine is a 32MB and so far it hasn't complained.

Note to self, bug my parents to get me a Dell Inspiration laptop for Christmas :D
