I Can Do Better (somewhat Open SG - Read on)

IHT – The very first thing I see when I open the game is our capitol making a warrior. :nono:
Sorry about that, don't know what I was thinking. I must confess, that I had built another warrior there after the first settler :( .
I don’t really think the Greeks are coming for us, as there is a barb visible, but we shall see.

IT – Gergovia burns. “They should pay dearly for this atrocity”. And indeed they will.

I just thought I would add that I think the GA should be triggered as well.

Aw... microbe feels like a chained up dog of war  . It would be real mean if somehow he were to abandon a city  ...

I wouldn't worry too much about Microbe. If I had to guess, now that he knows it may be a while between rotten spots, he'll probably just make it count that much more.

He is allowed.

That worries me though. I figured he'd just put us into anarchy during our GA, but now....

 Nice job empire. Maybe we should make a list for Microbe to choose from!

lurker's comment: Hehehe... you can tell I was dying to be the bad apple for this game. Maybe I can be microbe's advisor of evilness, cuz I have a whole slew of ideas to inflict pain :p

lurker's comment: SHHHHHHH Kiech!!! Don't make it THAT blatant

bad apple's comment: So you guys haven't revolted huh? What, you are going to stay in despotism until you get a diplo win so I won't be able to mess up?

A serious question: when my turn comes, should I pass the current (completed) turn and do stuff in the new turn? Or can I also choose to do stuff in the completed turn?

Nope, you stay in the turn. That way our turns all stay in increments of 10. There really isn't a disadvantage to this or loss of chances for you.

EDIT: We are about half way to actually being able to choose a new government. A certain bad apple hasn't been reading the turn-logs or he would know this. :) tisk tisk, I expected more evilness and spying out of you.

Then you guys would use up all move points of all units. I have to contest, or I'd have to jump your palace. :)

I suggest do it as I said. I pass the turn and do stuff in the new turn (but not complete it), and pass to the next player, so you still get your 10-turn incremental.

Alright, sounds good. I wasn't thinking of it your way.

There are ways around having a palace jump. If we do something to trigger you playing, we simply merge workers into a suitable city and when you palace jump, it jumps to a city we would have put a forbidden palace in.

EDIT: It is good that you guys are asking a lot of questions. If anyone ever decides to do this SG in the future, they won't have to look far a defined ruleset.

While there are certainly ways to thwart some of the more odious things Microbe can do, the bigger question is: will we be in a position to do them all?

Furthermore, I think it saps some of the fun if we spend too much time worrying about ways to make his "bad spot" (haven't found the right phrase for that...yet) impotent. I think the real fun of this game will come when we have to dig out of the hole he puts us in. However, I have recently discovered that I enjoy very difficult games more than walkovers, so take that with a grain of salt.

I do, however, think that triggering a GA is at least as important as the other "rotten triggers" you mentioned, and thus he should get a go. The other things you mentioned all seem to have some inherent good value for us, which is then mitigated by his move.

Hmm, I can agree with that Sesn. However, I hope GRS hasn't played, yet. I can already see this game easily won if we didn't have the bad apple. The AI is horrible at landings and by having the Bad Apple take more turns, it could certainly make things harder.

I shall add GA to the list. Never tried this, but since it is only once, it isn't a huge extra to Microbe.

lurker's comment: Just to make microbe happier, how about adding the end of a GA as well as one of the times the bad apple is allowed to do his stuff? Honestly, the end of a GA is a major event, so I don't see why not it shouldn't be included. Also, as sesn has said, you guys should not worry too much what he's going to do and try to prevent it all. While it may be fun for the lurkers to read your paranoia, it will certainly NOT be fun for you guys. Just wing it as it comes, that's the mindset I would have if I were playing

Just to make microbe happier, how about adding the end of a GA as...
That does not make sense imho. We just trigger that he will take turns, which will be done by the beginning of the GA. He will not jump in immediately.

Then you guys would use up all move points of all units.
IIRC microbe is not allowed moving units anyways.
