That's false - Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald had a save the world storyline. As well, Harvest Moon is arguably an RPG, and doesn't have a save-the-world storyline either.

R/B/E are tratiors to the Pokemon genre. G/S/C was the golden age of pokemon, after that it was all downhill.
