I finally beat Age of Ice! ... was that based on FfH 2?

First off, thanks to the dev team. I played it to get familiar with Fall from Heaven, and it didn't disappoint. Too often even the most ambitious mods fall short in some area (not for lack of effort), but even the writing was good (the area I'm most often saddened by...)

But I have a question. I have some confusion- was Age of Ice based on FfH 1 or 2? I ask because I'm curious whether or not AoI was really representative of what I should expect in FfH2 if I get it. The confusion is because in most places it's called "Fall from Heaven: Age of Ice", but other sites specifically call it "Fall from Heaven 2: Age of Ice."

So...?

Age of Ice is FfH1. The events in FfH2 is based on the fall of Mulcarn, god of winter.

Im not sure what you mean by "is based on". AoI (which is correctly "Fall from Heaven: Age of Ice") is its own product. It isn't built on either of the public FfH games. The biggest reason for that was that we didn't want to have any source code changes in AoI.

But I think AoI does a good job of representing a part of what FfH2 is. It introduces the player to hero units the spell system and lairs as well as 3 of the civilizations. FfH2 also picks up right after AoI is over (with the world thawing out from AoI and civilizations beginning to found and spread out).

Although those civs have entirely different units and buildings and more leaders in the full mod.

Basically, if you liked Age of Ice, you will like FfH 2. If you didn't like AoI, you still might like FfH 2, because there are a lot more ways to play the full mod.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll download FfH2 later. It looks really fun, and, like I said, AoI was good.
