4th Age Civs based on your game playthrough, not IRL history

Since the 4th age would probably go from the present into a bit of sci-fi, I'd like it if they made the Civs based on prior sci-fi games by Firaxis - like the 12 sponsors from Beyond Earth. No future leaders necessary; just the civ icons and some flavor abilities.
Actually a decent 4th age would mostly be in the past, Cold War, Globalization, Computers, Automation, Social Media…it should only have 1/3-1/4 in the future.

I don't see the point of a 4th age. The game will be tedious enough to complete as it is. I'd rather start a new game than prolong an old one, especially with the new legends mechanic.

The nice thing about the age system is you can…hopefully you can choose an Ancient-Exploration game or an Exploration-Modern game.
(and you could still level up your Nelson Mandela leader….even though you never play with the Global age S Africa civ.)

Maybe, but I think it would be more interesting to have it as a future age, especially with all the connotations that “Modern Age” already brings. You could have a lot of interesting speculative crises
