I'm trying to get maximum score with food caravans and all that this game. Anyway I'm still in early expansion mode, this city just built an explorer and look!

So your question is where do the luxuries come from?

The answer must be.. from the entertainer, put him to work and see what happens.

Indeed, what is the bug you are referring to???

If you are wondering why your city produces luxuries, when the lux rate is at 0, just look at your population. You have 1 entertainer in your city and every entertainer (Elvis) produces 2 lux. points, no matter how you set the lux rate! :yeah:

Other than that, I cannot see what you´re referring to.

Mind to explain some more?
:D

Yeah it's a random map, and you're all wrong. I really thought someone would know right away...

Or do view the 2 trade arrows per tile you get as a BUG?
Would also be not one. This city is in WLTK status, it has at least the same amount of happy people as unhappy+specialists and no unhappy people. And it´s size 3 or more!
The effect of WLTK day in Monarchy is that you get the same trade bonus as if you were a Republic/Democracy.

Or are you suggesting that there should be only 1 explorer in the support window? If so, why?

So why don´t you simply say what you deem a bug?
This is not a quiz forum!
:D

Lucky got it, I was wrong. I forgot celebrating makes you one govt. level higher for trade. I am so embarrased I can never show my face in this forum again. Maybe one of you admins can change that file to a real bug insectlike type to save me the humiliation..
:)~

I stole this image from Smash's GOTM 16 spoiler and was wondering how it is possible that the Sioux can have such huge demographics for their money? I mean, 20 times what Smash is producing seems a little strange to me. Can we try to figure this one out as well? Also, how can the French have -25% diesease? What do they do? Suck up diseases from other civs and cure them ?
I only ask because my PS Civ 2 has a slightly different Demographics screen and I was hoping for an explanation of these. :D

The demographics have never made sense to me. Take a look at Smash's example. Life expectancy 25years, 2nd place.. French 40 years. This means that the spanish have a life expectancy of less than 25 years yet still manage 10 years of military service and also achieve the highest productivity. obvoiusly they go to work and war very young.

They also manage to have 6 children by the age of 25 and all whilst the menfolk are at war.

disease 1st place 50% does this mean there is more or less disease than other civs. either way as duke says the french figure is non-sensical.

shouldn't the longest military service be in last place?

ferenginar:confused:

Yes, now that IS a bug! :yeah:

I experience it in every game with the purple civ, there is definitely something wrong with the internal calculation.
I´m not sure whether your key civ is calculated wrong or only the purple civ, probably the former. I simply ignore that, since the demographics numbers don´t really say much about your empire or others. It´s nice to view them though.
:D

LOL, I agree with Lucky's first post, and further... if it is a problem/quiz/stumper... then just say so up front; the original post was somewhat strange (with the "...and look!" ending). ;)

Thanks, here the mighty starlifter agrees with me instead of criticising.
j/k

oops, SPAM alert.

Well, uhm, oh yes.

...

Starlifter, can you explain the demographics numbers of the purple/key civ?? Why they are so way off? :yeah:

uff, close enough, found something on-topic.
:D

This is a well known glitch with the pc version 2.42.The purple civ had a "normal" amount of gold and what not.

Disease is based on number of Aqueducts, Sewer Systems, Granaries; discovery of Medicine and perhaps something yet unknown.

Life expantancy is based on based on number of Granaries, Aqueducts, Sewer Systems, sizes of cities, Pyramids and who knows.

Military service is (combat units * 10) / (citizens + 1)

Family size is (food surplus * 4) / (citizens + 1) + 2

Income is GNP * techs discovered / (citizens + 1)

Productivity is ( food + shield + trade ) / worked squares

My numbers are a little askew due to the riot factor(44 cities) and having numerous Elvi' in size 2 cities

LOL, Hi Lucky,

Thanks, here the mighty starlifter agrees with me instead of criticising.

You a smart and quick-study player, Lucky, from what I've seen. You're certainly a quick responder to those with questions, which is good for the Forums! And take no offense... you'd know it if I actually criticize. As a 1000+ veteran poster, I'm sure you are wise and sage player.

BTW, I just noticed you are not a native English speaker. Your command of the English language is excellent... I have lots of friends and relatives outside the USA (I travel a lot), and sometime live in Europe for months at a time (Sweden mostly), and your written English made me assume you were a native in a couple of my posts about your tenor with newbies. :)

About the Demographics, that is the first time I've noticed that bug. I play with Civ 2 MGE, version 5.4.0f, 31Mar99. I don't own 2.42, and was not able to get Cedric's conversion to work last fall. I may just order 2.42 so I can install it and pick up the nuances like this one.

I'd need to examine a few things later on to figure out just why, but I have other things on the plate right now. Smash's explanation seems good, though :)....

EDIT: Corrected my version number/

You can get 2.42 in stores right now with Risk Gold Edition.Comes with Risk,Risk2 and Civ2 2.42.I got it for $30 Canadian.

btw-I had no problem making a copy and converting to FW with Cedric's FW update :goodjob:
