I hate all governments!!!!

Grrr.. I just cant do it!
You either have to be completely peaceful and pay for all your military (which sucks for me because im no good at getting gold/commerce) or there is too much corruption and too high maintainence costs!
The only gov. I find okay is Monarchy, but is there any happy medium??

For me, my happy medium is Republic. Trade bonuses, low war weariness, manageable corruption.

Buildings sound like they kill you.

Also, I think you might be defending every single city you have with multiple defenders. I'm not psychic, but that's what I infer.

No, i normally only have one defender until the late medieval age.
But how do i get more gpt?

Trade with other civs is a good way to get gpt, I one time got almost 200gpt from one civ (not sure how the computer got the money and pays for their stuff.). Also putting your cities near gold and stuff is a good way.

Also Marketplaces, Banks and Stock-markets help.

i dont know whats wrong with your games but useing democracy and on any level diffcult i have huge military and upwards of two hundred if not more gold per turn

Build roads everywhere.

You should really plan you gov switches. If you want to be a democracy or a republic, you'd better have all your terrain roaded pretty quick.
And you should choose your gov according to your playing style ; if you're a warmonger, fascim and communism are more manageable for you than democracy.
