Over 900 hours on this game =expansions, I stopped doing anything social and this is what a WoW addiction must be like. Thank you to all the modders who have contributed to my delinquency as a human for making me overjoyed playing this marvelous games and it's expansions :(

I was already addicted to an online game. Although I can't complain much, as it gave me a daughter and family heh.

But that is one step to stop - admiting to yourself you are addicted! :)

Well, at least with Civ you can stop playing at any given time (if you have some will though :D). You won't encounter some mmorpg typical situations like when you are playing WoW:

- "Oh no, leave me alone honey, I just started some instance with my guildies."
- "Argh don't mess now, I still have to kill 5640 zombies to up my reputation at revered."
-"F****** ROGUE, HE JUST 2 SHOT BACKSTABBED ME WITH HIS 150 DPS DAGGER !!! DIE, DIEEEEEEE !!"

No, you can definitively not compare.

Im playing both WoW as a Raid Leader and this. :crazyeye:

I know I'm a Civ addict. Well, ever since BTS came out, I think Civ has improved. I could easily quit when I was playing just Warlords, but now this BTS...

I'm an addict. Pretty soon though, I'll be able to quit... I'm replaying Starcraft (and Brood War. On last level of Zerg Campaign in the first game) until I can get a copy of Starcraft II

Found it was much better to play a succession game with a friend...that way, I'm more or less limited to playing for ~ one hour at a time, instead of just "one more turning" myself into 2:00AM.

Congrats on your self control. Go hang out with friends and family. It's good for you.
[/not a sarcastic post, I really mean it.]

I had to give up playing to get my life back in order too. Still having occasional relapses though. Kudos for taking the plungle into real life! www.gamerwidow.com is an awesome place to chat with others facing similar issues.

Actually WoW is worse. It's very easy to walk away from a game of Civ if something comes up. If you're in the middle of a dungeon in WoW, walking away means killing/stranding at least 4 other people, who will likely wonder what's happened to you before cursing your name and finding someone else.
