I knew there something wrong with the West North America

I would be more concerned about that volcanoe in the Atlantic.

You are talking about La Palma?

Yes, that's what has ME concerned, too.

Not sure but I thinki its in the Azores. When the crater collapse and the sea rushes in say goodbuy to the eastern seaboard and maybe coastal western Europe. That one is more of a when question than if as well.

ah, yes, that is La Palma. It is not really the crater collapsing, but the entire western 40% of the volcanoe slides into the ocean as a giant landslide.

You mean a super-volcano story, or just you regular, run-of-the-mill end-of-the-world type stories?
Yes, I am talking about the Yellowstone super volcano. That same picture has been posted multiple times too.

As I recall, the Mount St Helens eruption affected people all over the world. So if one of these 'super-volcanos' go, it could very well affect you.

Well I'm 12,500 km away so whatever.

expect rice crops to fail for several years - and remember, there will be no place to buy wheat or rice anywhere in the world!

this "news" is very old. I've even seen a documentory on this more than 2 years ago. But I think it's very difficult to avoid that erruption.

At least Hollywood will be buried under several feet of magma.

$100 Says cockroaches and Gwneth Paltrow survive though.

There is bright side to this whole matter.

Your right. Hollywood is full a cockroaches and dusgusting creatures, as well as insects.

Super-volcano, huh?

From the Apostle Peter:
"By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men."

Verneshots aren't exactly new. Good article, anyway, though.

As I recall, vernshots are quite different from supervocanoes. For one thing, they're considerably larger & shoot planet-killer size chunks of the earth into the stratosphere.

Any of you smart people who know about vernshots wanna back me up, or set me straight?

The chances of this thing erupting are very likely extremely slim to none anyway. Sounds like another case of fear-mongering, and useless speculating and hypothesizing over something very unlikely to happen anyway.

They say that we are also due to a huge earthquake off the coast of Vancouver Island sometime, on the 9-10 magnitude. I just roll my eyes.

Fear of stuff like this reminds me of a friend who won't get in an airplane. Maybe there are some exploding BIC lighters out there also (which is a real think, kills an average of 1 person per year). Yep, it will happen someday, but why worry about everything.

They kept (and I'm willing to bet still are) saying that about the San Andreas and Calaveras faults in California. Even after the 7.1 quake, they were saying "No, that wasn't the big one..."

I was there....pretty freaking big, if you ask me.
