Ok, so my main computer died. I haven't been keeping up to date on hardware so I was looking for a few suggestions as to what may be good.

Currently I have a piece of junk Abit KR7A-Raid with a dead processor. The second processor to be destroyed by the mb. (I'm blaming it because I've had so many other problems with it it's ridiculous and it's the cause). I'm afraid the crappy GF2 video card may have been damaged as well somehow but anyway.

Anyway, I have 2 hdd's, a floppy, a cdrw, a SB Audigy ( bleh!), NIC, and I would like 3 ddr slots. It does not need RAID capability as I had so many problems with my current setup I don't want to fool with that for a while. I'm not too wealthy so anything I buy would not be something relatively new to the market. I know I do not want anything Abit related again...

So I need a new mobo and video card. Reliability is definately top priority for me. Anyone have any specific suggestions as to what to look at first?

www.pcmag.com does a lot of reviews on MoBos, and www.tomshardware.com is a good resource too. I like the Abit 800 mhz ones myself. When I briefly thought about building my own, this was what I was going to go with. But I can see why you don't want to go that route again.

Of course, it depends if you want AMD or Intel. But there are a lot of (at least)decent ones to choose from.

My choice would be...

On a budget but still a top brand name
Asus A7NX - X <<<<< note the X in the name at the end

On a budget (really tight budget here)
PC Chips Syntax SKT A AGP Via KT266 DDR/SDR ATA 133 Sound/LAN/USB 2.0 upto a 2.6+ CPU <<<< Really cheap but works well for its limitations.

Not on a budget, but sense still applies
Abit NF7-s revision 2.

Graphics card.....

ATI 9xxx <<<< change the xxx to suit your pocket.
