I really hope that the Chinese people adopt a republic similar to old America rather than any of the liberal models being practiced today. But either way, the Chinese people must be free. And within a few years the Communist Party will be housed on the self of history. And good riddance.

I think every country should adopt a system similar to the old Republic; including the USA.

A backwards step as slavery was legal in the USA then but not in England and Wales.

Would have been a positive step if only the constitution had followed the declared
logic of the declaration and freed slaves and recognised native people's rights.

Something starting with "civil rights" is always a trouble.

The same civil rights groups and individuals which instigated the disintegration of the Soviet Union are still there today trying to instigate a disintegration of Russian Federation. This movement seems to be similar to them.

Nationalist oligarches disintegrated the Soviet Union. If the masses have had their civil rights respected - including the right to vote in free elections - the Soviet Union would have survived because people actually voted to keep it.

In other words the Soviet Union died so that the Russian Federation may live. The Russian Federation killed the Soviet Union. What goes around comes around, yeah?

Only if you ignore the US constitution, especially the Bill of Rights section 4, where you couldn't deny a person to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness, without due course. So for that to happen the Supreme court made an outrageous decision that slaves weren't actually a person, thus not afforded those protection, just like a group isn't afforded those protection today.

It's trouble for autocrats and their sheeps.

I think that if my country becomes like the old USA -or the current USA for that matter- I will build bombs in my basement until it goes back to normal.

I am mildly shocked that few here, if any, would speak out to support the premise that the people of China, over a billion oppressed people, should be free. What that says about the population of this board I will not venture to say.

But I am only mildly shocked.

It would be great if they were free. But I don't see how this matters at all towards accomplishing that goal.

Oh, I'd prefer them to be free, I just think it's a silly notion that they would adopt your particular view of freedom which is rejected in many cultures that are much more similar to yours than China is and isn't even universally accepted in the USA.

Where do you imagine they're going to get four hundred million African slaves at short notice?

Your thread was only open for a day, so many of us haven't had a chance to comment yet. And the early posts appear to contain a spill-over argument from the Ukraine threads.

But sure, we are all a bunch of terrible people because we don't want freedom or whatever.
