Is it just me, but I find that at the moment, all the files I dowload either cary virus' or are incoplete. I've been trying to get FF, but it contains a virus. Then my regular FFH wouldn't work, so I reinstalled that, and it is fine, until I try to start a game. Is this just me, or have others been experiencing this (started yesterday I think...) please tell me. If this is the case, somthing must be done...

No problems for me so far..... Maybe your computer is infected rather then the server...

I had some spyware problems that seemed to come from this site, but it had nothing to do with downloads.
I suspect is was more my computer, and it only seemed like this site was to blame because I check it most often.
Anyways, anti-virus/spyware might seem expensive, but it's worth it to protect your computer and save a lot of headache.

I had a virus some time ago. I found the virus over and over in various files and my antivirus program detected it fixed it over and over again. Now I am clean, because I have also found "the mothervirus" to my infections, something that my AV program missed the first times (the virus was a new type of virus).

What I say with this is that the virus can be in your computer, but like the virus I had, it detect an exe file that you try to use and then it infect that file and your AV program detect the virus on its "new" location, the "mother" remains undetected.

Another thing here is that if you remove a virus it can still be in windows backup files and can operate in the way I desribed from there.

It's your computer. Avast is a free open source anti-virus program.

This site does have some spyware issues, most likely with the ads, because this is the only site I ever get antivirus popups and warnings on.

I found google quite helpful in fighting virus/spyware infections; use task manager to identify processes running, then google unknown ones, and you can probably find sites/boards discussing whether it is good, bad, or simply unneccesary, and then search your computer for that file name and delete it.
But that's kind of tedius and won't find everything, so I went ahead and bought an AV program.

Use Avast at least. It's free and works almost as well as Mcafee and the rest. It's all I've used and I've never got a virus or even any spywear to speak of. Link: http://www.avast.com/ (you do have to register, but its free and no hassle)

Free AVG from Grisoft here. No problems so far. Am I making this up, or was there a news story last month about Microsoft finally biting the bullet and looking into giving away free AV?

Incidentally, did anybody else read AV and think about the Ashen Veil?

If you download a free program called hijack this (which is like a megabyte) you can paste the log here: http://www.hijackthis.de/en and it will tell you what all your processes are and if you should watch out for them. Cheers.

Norton 360 works just fine for me. At least it helps cover microsoft's mistakes. I have this long, long list of failed update attempts.

I'm really sorry for being a stereotypical smug Linux user. Honestly, I am.
But I knew I couldn't resist posting this indefinitely.

Malware bytes rock arse. I tried it out a few days ago, the results were not pretty man.

for spyware I recommend Firefox with adblocker and Noscript plugins. personally I use bit defender, which I find pretty good.
