I saw Icebergs listed as a terrain type...does this mean they will be floating around and a hazard to ships? Will you be able to land on them? Does anyone know anything about this?

why is ther no swamp or marshland terain???

I'm now half-waiting for someone to ask "Will there be a titanic unit so that when you go next to an iceberg, it'll sink?". ;)

Will there be a HMS Titanic unit so that when you move next to an iceberg it will sink? :p.

Anyway, we already have low tech ships sinking when they wander away from coastal terrain, no need to add in icebergs into the game ;).

Maybe we'll get a cute little animation and a crunching noise, along with a popup box saying "An iceberg has sunk our vessel!" when one of your ships wanders too close.

it could be some kind of way to get rid of enemy ships that are chasing yours. You go close enogh to a iceberg and then it is a % chanse of sinking. If you make it iether your oponent have to take a shot at it or take a way around the iceberg and lose movement points... :)

Also, there should be two animated people in love trying to save eachother when the ship sinks. :p

Weirdly, the ships name was RMS Titanic, not HMS. It was a "Royal Mail Ship", not "His Majesty's Ship".

Pointless bit of trivia for the day!

You don't need an iceburg, just name a suicide galley titanic using shift-n and sent it into the sea sea. Should sink in 1 or 2 trns. You can pretend there was an iceburg in the water.

Hadn't heard anything bout icebergs till now..hmmmmm...intresting.

And there's just the question left: WHY? :D

I'm waiting for the first one to require a tech to be able to move the icebergs in order to block your opponents' trade routes.
Would be especially effective against seafaring nations near the equator, as they are not used to cope with icebergs

I think it is used to provide some type of disruption to sea trade/improvements like those nets in one screenshot.

I think it would be pretty cool to have icebergs aslong as there not all over the place that would just be realy annoying.

I suspect the icebergs serve the same function as lions and such do on land, to add some spice to exploration. Sea-monsters units would be nice... they disappear with the "navigation" advance....<g>

"Barbarian Iceberg attacks Point Barrow! Temple and Library destroyed! Citizens demand anti-iceberg missile defense!"

Correction, RMS Titanic.

I look forward to these ice bergs. My presumption is that they represent hostile terrain for marine vessels, in a similar way that arctic conditions might affect foot troops.

Ice bergs might be more common as global warming sets in
