Does anyone know how to get/download the icons for websites?

For example, I am seeing a torch as the icon on the CFC tab in my web browser. How can I get that torch as an .ico file to attach to a link/shortcut on my desktop?

They are called favicons, if that helps with googling.

that absolutely did, thanks but i still can't find a place to download the .ico file of the CFC torch.

I know there's a tool called AM-Deadlink which downloads favicons, and I think Firefox 3 bookmark files contain the favicons, but I'm not sure where to go from that. I have an icon extractor, lemme see if I can try something.

No luck, but here's a script you can use to extract favicons from firefox bookmarks.

Now, you save it, make sure the place you save to is gonna be permanent. So you right click the shortcut, go to Properties, and the Change Icon should be there.

thanks a ton! and i tried using that trick on another website and it worked.

Ex. "http://www.google.com/favicon.ico"
