An idea I got from Rise from Erebus(modmod of Fall from Heaven2) was having each culture have its own soundtrack, don't know how to do this myself but I thought I'd share it with you. In that mod depending on your religion the soundtrack changes. My idea was to split it by culture and era(so like if your Aztec for example you'd here native aztec style music, then in the renaiissance transition into latin flamenco, then more modern latin stuff later perhaps). This would be an addon though, since soundtrack isn't part of the gameplay.

Adding sound it fairly simple, right now C2C has ALOT of Diplo per "Culture" and its taking up 280ish MB's right now JUST for that. Sounds total so far are over 660ish MB.

The sound changes for alot of the cultures WHEN the LeaderHead pop-ups and want to discuss matters with your culture.

The sounds alone here are more than 50% of some of the modmod's out there now.

I totally understand with the file size, thats a big part of my own small mod too, but I actually meant the game music rather than the diplomusic Strategy. It was an idea I had after playing Rise from Erebus afew times.

Sounds like it would take some dll modding to achieve a differing base soundtrack derived from the civ played (or in C2C - the dominant culture or blends of cultures possessed.)

That is probably a good assessment. Where in the dll pertains to the soundtrack? Just curious.

Unfortunately I have absolutely no idea. I've never really looked into music sound matters ever and I'm not even really sure how we store them in xml to even get started. It'd take me some hours to figure it out but I'm pretty sure I could eventually code this sort of thing once I got a handle on the base coding that delivers soundtracks in the first place.

AM i the only one who turns the music down (mute) and listens to documentaries/audiobooks while playing civ?

I have to have the music play or my mind wonders off more, so maybe you are???
