Idea: Include a 'Holy Land'

Waiting for the great idea....

Why I oughta......

Let's see if I understand the other way. Instead of the random factor, you would like the Holy Land to be a wonder, and perhaps add other buildings (temples, cathedrals, etc) for it to work. Hey, it also should take some time from the finishing to the victory, to allow the other civs a chance not to loose. Very well. Wich would be the gameplay difference with the spaceship?

lmfao! :) I couldn't help myself!

Ok, I'll set out my view. Hopefully the others can too but i'll put mine all out in writing here.

When total civ culture reaches say 20,000 (rough figure, open to adjustment, hopefully around middle ages for a more culturally significant civ), a great wonder becomes available to be built. On completion of this wonder, the city is declared the "Holy City". It gives a culture bonus (say double culture in city), which can help a cultural victory, but not achieve it. It also has the special properties that it cannot be razed, and it gives a happiness bonus to the civ that has it. The AI is set so that it will try to get it's hands on the holy city at all costs.

Ok that's how i see it. Please post other ideas up so people can say which they think is best. Also, if you think you have any smallish improvements to my idea, say so. This is only a rough outline really, but if you have some stuff to add, feel free. The idea could be expanded so whole civ becomes "holy land" instead of just the one city too.

i agree to with most but i think the city should be able to be razed
No citizens can be unhappy and there should also be a free unit like fanatics in civ 2

How about this - what if the city could be raized, and the raizing of the city erases all of the culture that has ever been granted by the wonder. So, for instance, if I've gained 5000 culture points from the wonder while it was in my possession, and the Greeks have gained 2000 from it while it was in their possession, those additions to the culture ratings of my civ and of the Greeks is erased. But the destroying CIV has committed a major atrocity, and all other civs will declare war. Possibly, they should even get a golden age during the war.

I said it can't be razed because I think it would be more fun with everyone constantly trying to wrest it back. eg Jerusalem. Maybe the holy land could just be a place on the map that everyone tries to get?? i dunno, really. People seem to want to raze it :( I wouldn't.

i was thinking something simaller the other day what if at the start of the game a random spot on the map say a block of 4 tiles
is designated the holy land and the first civ to have those tiles inside its broders is the "holy civ" or there capital city is the holy city
