[IDEA] Oratory / Great politician

I used searcher but i found nothing about this idea in C2C (so Joseph II i post another thread ;) )

Background

In history always was the people who had great oratory/negotiaion skills. Thanks to them many countries avoided wars and revolutions.

Gameplay

Oratory tech will give
+ 1 free Great politician

Great politician can
- +5 to relations with one civ (declare peace)
- build Foregin ministry Deparment national wonder (+2 relations with all civs)
- build Law achivement (+1 happy and -5 :crime: in every city)

Gameplay impact

Ths great person will add posibility to improve your relations fast (now we have only few wonders that do the same). Yoy want to convince some stronger civ to make peace with you. Now you Can.

Now it is easy to spoil relations with others but is very hard to get back a good realtions.

Another idea

I dont like idea that heroes units (who are great warriors) build achivements. In my opinion i would be better to delete achivements from heroes and give the to great people (scientifict to scientist, industrial to enginer and so on). Now hen we have a lot of heroes it is to easy to get all achivements.
 
StrategyOnly is looking into merging the Great Statesman mod. It and this do have implications for the Extra Diplomacy mod I am working on.

I think Oratory may need to move it is a bit early, as others have suggested. It was also intended for it to open a lawyer or politician specialist slot but we can't have extra specialists at the moment.

The diplomat units will be able to do some things like relationship changes with other nations.

Now it is easy to spoil relations with others but is very hard to get back a good realtions.

As far as I can tell that is the basic fact of Civ diplomacy. The aim is to get the AI to go to war with you.

I have already suggested that those heroes that can't build achievements be only on if you have the Great Commander option on. I would still like to see that done.

There are military achivements, in RI they are called doctrines. those I would like to see linked to heroes. Especially if you link the other achievements to GP.
 
Maybe you shuld ask Koshling he is master programmer as I know ;)

He has a lot of work but maybe he will find one evening to skype chat and find the solution... Idea is worth importing
 
Ok when you will able to add Statesman Mod to C2C maybe we should tweak village hall, town hall, city council, metropolitan administration and capital administration to give free statesman instead free specialist?

I want to avoid situation when we will have a lot of free specialist in each city.

I am having a HARD time on it because i am adding also about ten other things at the same time, that all tie in together, and now i am having alot of problems in the MainInterface.py not working, so that blows everything up.:blush:

I would like to see something like national executive orders and put there all ordinances (instead of buildings)

So puting ordinances to unit line is good temporary solution ( many times better than what it work now)

One thing that needs to be considered before adding things which give mechanical bonuses to diplomacy is multiplayer. As (obviously) players don't use those modifiers, in a fully multiplayer game this would be useless. It's akin to the way that, unless it's banned metagame, everyone tends to choose repulsive as a trait in Master of Orion 2 multiplayer games, as it's less of a penalty with few AI.

We are extending diplomacy (very slowly) to include r3lations with Indigenous People and barbarian cities. Indigenous People appear on the map where goody huts were and good relations with them give good events while bad relations give bad events. naturally other things can happen, diplomacy can possibly upgrade them into a city for you or you may be able to install a terrorist camp in a IP in someone else's territory. It is back to third on my priority list, after documenting how to do missions in C2C and starting to convert Platypings Enhanced Great People into the beginning of a C2C Advanced Great People.

Now this is GREAT news, again if you need anything at all from ME, pls let me know, this is my realm of stuff to do, thx.;)

And yes i am waiting for that missions stuff, so many many thx on that.
 
I was working on some things your mod probably would like or may help me improve. I was moving the great diplomat mod's missions to the DLL. The diplomacy increase mission is finished, but I can't get it to be active in an oposing city. The social reform mission is in the Total War Mod.

My upcoming improvments for Adv Diplomacy include that workers/non-combatants are not killed in battle, but returned after wars. Several new UN votes include things such as culture needs empty radius, no city razing, military medicine rights, liberated cities return their old population amount, condamned civics, & prohbited units.
