Ideas borrowed from Paradox Games?

Not a big fan myself of the Endless Legend pre sliced Map, though i do like the game itself as a whole. It looks too much like patchwork and accentuates the random nature of the map. It also pretty much demands specialising based on the base terrain of the slice[...]

I'm creeping off-topic here, but I like the 'slice' mechanic because it limits city spam. My biggest complaint with Civ city placement is (and always has been) that you're obligated to maximize available terrain utilization, at the detriment of fewer, more epic (and unique) cities... If you can only settle one city for a given 100-tile range, you'll pick the single best spot within the range (that you can reach in time), instead of cramming 3-4-5+ cities in there...

Otherwise, sure, aesthetically the map scripts can feel random, and there are quite a few other things about the game I would change.

Paradox games have about 10 times less audience than Firaxis and for good reasons. If Paradox try to compete with Firaxis directly, I don't think we'll see anything good.

On the contrary, they could both use competition. The market sorely needs it.

All the wars of religion in Europe happened during the 16th and 17th century. That is, during the renaissance.

Wars with at least lip service to religion as the reason have happened for thousands of years and continue to this day.
