Am I missing something here.... Why are the Netherlands being represented by Carthage, even tho they already exist in the game?

Its my unfamiliarity with Vanilla Civ4. No Netherlands, and no Celts either for that matter. I tried to match the colors... but well, announcement is going out soon and its too late to worry about it. A better question might be "What the heck! You wrote off my team already???"

Its a theme, and it's not going to match reality. Especially since everyone has to play as the Germans.

Well we could all rename our own leader and civ once we've started the game

Yeah, if so I'd like to suggest that we use a neutral leader & civ - a civ that's not participating in the World cup, so everyone can play their own team. Now is Sid Meier available in GOTM?

The GOTM104 announcement is already up, the map is made, your opponents are set. But since vanilla civ choices are rather limited, the actual civ (for example Inca or Aztec) is not the same as any team in the WC, but I gave them names to match teams.

You can't change your opponent's name... only the mapmaker can do that, and its already fixed. You can change the name of the Bismarck-leader you will play as (at game start he is named after the German team trainer).

I hope thats enough to please the most avid haters of the German team, which I know there are probably many out there.

Just be glad Sweden didn't even qualify for the WC, or else you would all be playing as Ragnar.
