Idiot mistakes 101

d) accidentially hitting the windows key when aiming for the alt key (WTH! is this desktop doing here! - oh - windows key blunder, gottta alt-tab, phew)
Ugh, I hate it when I do that, especially since it takes my POS comp about 10 minutes to switch over to the desktop, and another 5 to switch back

I removed the windows keys from the computer I play civ on just to avoid ever accidently hitting them again. Takes me upwards of 10-15 minutes to recover from that, if at all. Bah!

not realy a mistake but I was playing a game and doing very very very well running through civs like eggs through a hen. I had future techs in the 1910s and more money then I knew what to do with. Come to find out it was set on chiefton. D'oh.

1: Paying 600 gold and a tech to G. Kahn to get him to switch to my religion, and him switching back to his old religion 2 turns later....

2: Monty declares war on me, and I capture one of his big ( size 18 )cities. Use a great artist culture bomb to stop the revolt and expand the city borders to prevent a culture flip. He takes the city back ( using knights / elephants and catapults against 4 infantry with garrison 2 promotions, several horse cav and 3 arty )

Oh well. I may have wasted a GA, but I just got assembly line so I have the first wave of panzers rolling onto the transports for the short trip over to his land. His victory is short lived!

1 week ago i made a mistake that everyone will laugh... i researched all the technologies that about the sea but then i realised that there wasn't any seaside in my country:lol:

:D That sure qualifies for a position in the top 10 hall of fame of idiotic mistakes, I admire you! :worship:

What I found out is that if you declare war on someone and then bring the mouse over to the list of Civs and left click you declare war on them as well.

I was trying to contact a few Civs to offer an alliance and i declared war on them instead. I had gone through about 80 turns without saving so at that point it was less time consuming to just batle them as well.

Are you sure your alt key wasn't stuck or something?
AFAIK Alt clicking their names on the list of Civ on the bottom right will declare war. Ctrl clicking will start the trade menu immediately, instead of saying the hello stuff in the first place.

My biggest mistake... happen more than once !! sometime i got a scientist and use it to discover a tech but... my tech had just one turn loft to be discover and i still use it by mistake cause im too excited about the fact i can discover it right away... each time i think ot myself... your an idiot take your time dammit !!!

Recently I Alt-clicked on one of the names on the list instead of Ctrl-clicking and I had an unwanted war. After a few turns I repeated this move with another leader...
Fortunately, they were not able to do any harm to me, but I lost the chance for diplomatic victory.

In my opinion that's not your mistake, it's Firaxis' mistake.

Why on earth did they allow the player to make such an important decision without asking for confirmation?

Yes, it sholdn't be like this.

build worker to connect your cattle and ivory to capital. the cattle are on river so they are automaticly connected when I pasture them. I put a camp on the ivory. Then I noitice that I can't build a road because I don't have the wheel. OOPs

Cleared about 23 jungle tiles outside my cultural borders, in naive beleif that cutting jungle adds hammers to city queue.

When I realized I was just clearing terrain for 3000+ years, I just restarted that game, my whole economy was based on that jungle-cutting, you know spitting out workers, putting military into foggy parts of jungle, so that barbarians have no chance of ambushing my workers.

:smoke:

You didn't notice for 3000 years that you weren't getting any hammers from this?

No, I was like: "Hooray, we have 50 tiles of jungle, I don't care what my cities build, they will build it FAST!"
:mischief:

I guess my most stupid mistake was when I had 1 city defended by 1 warrior. There was a wolf 1 tile away and a bear 2 tiles away. Since bears are stronger I sent my only warrior to attack it. Then I remembered about the wolf.

I usually don't have more than 1 Golden Age per game. So why do I always seem to forget I'm in GA period and have an irresistable urge to change civics during this time? I don't think the one or two turns of anarchy help the cause, somehow.

Glad to know I am not the only one to do it.
