If Western Australia were to leave Australia

Eh? is the only reasonable response i think.

I think it's been proven that it's better to unite than to split. There's always two sides to every option, but the current is the most reasonable in the long run.

How many islands do you think NZ actually has at the moment?
2, the other ones are too sucky to count. You gotta have more then 1000 people on an Island to call it a respectable island, otherwise it's just some rock off a beach.

Why would WA wants to leave the Commonwealth? As a state they have self-government so Canberra as the capital isn't an issue. Western Australians are mocked but that happens to everyone. And it's not like the rest of the country is stealing all the natural resources from WA.

Edit: According to wiki Stewart Island have 402 people. That hardly counts.

This link makes no sense.

The GDP per capita of all the states except Tasmania is much higher than the average GDP per capita, and the Tasmania one is only slightly lower. How can that be?

most likley diff. sources for the numbers for example the state numbers could be from the state govenments themselves while the national one could be from something like the CIA factbook,...... just a guess thou.

Well, mathematically, if Tasmania had a much larger population, it would make sense (but it doesn't).

Edit: I back-calculate that the average GDP should be $44,087 (if the rest of the table is correct). Note that even the numbers in the state GDPs don't total to the sum for australia.

I really don't understand why you guys would want to split up Australia. It would be like Texas seceding from the US, pointless and would hurt everyone.
