Mine is a geforce4 420 go for a laptop, this fix made it work. It might now work for you but it may be worth a try (this fix may also work for radeon problems):
Go to http://omegadrivers.net/ then click for drivers under your brand (nvidia or radeon). Select your operating system then proceed to download the driver.
The driver will install easily using the wizrd, towards the end however windows will prompt you that this is not approved by windows or some warnign of that nature. I ignored the warning and installed it anyways and the problems were fixed.
Problems I had:
- blackness instead of terrain
- scinematic in the opening skipping excessively
