Tomoyo--I would grab the save since you would've been up right after viper.

Agh... Today's been so muggy and haggard... Sorry for the sloppy turns.

650AD (0): Furs, 704 gold, 19 gpt, and WM to Cleo for Chemistry. I could've gotten it much cheaper from Greece, but the trade route was coastal and on tile wide.

Chemistry gets us Theology from England and Chivalry from Rome. I also get The Republic from Germany.

Change Copenheadachen to Barracks wasting 5 shields.

IT: As expected, Xerxes kicks our workers out, but I get a ROP.

690AD (4): Find the New World and get Education and their WM.

720AD (7): Get the Iroquois to declare on us.

IT: Golden Age!

740AD (9): Cattaraugus (and MoM) captured.

It may or may not be too muggy to do a Tomoyo-style save, though. :(

Hopefully this won't come back to me too quickly. I'll be gone until Thurs evening at the earliest.

MadV how ya doin'?

MadV - :bump:

Tomoyo - still had a "Find Waldo" save going.

Got it if I can find it, oh there it is :( , got it then

Start by buying Astronomy from Zulu for wines furs and 34gpt.

Then buy Printing Press from Babylon for Education.

And swap Astronomy +48gpt to Persia for Banking.

Then send 44gpt to Greece for Navigation. And start hawking our maps around to the world. Pick a full view of the world plus some spending money. And now our trade routes are safe world wide...

Then sent Navigation to Persia and Banking to Rome for an alliance against the Iroquois. That should cover our flanks.

And that was all the big news. Continued the march on Iroquois Core and the Persians and the Romans did a bang up job covering the flanks while I captured Grand River and Akwesasne and marched on the other big town south of Whompet Gardens. Built a few more towns in the southland trying to fill the borders against the Iro and advance our native citizens.

Got iron at Grand River so have been building knights and upgrading horses as cash comes available. The three core towns Paris, Avignon and Odinspally have been managed to produce maximum commerce but only 10spt. That way we can get 1 knight every turn by letting each town build a turn (10 shields), rush a temple (50 shields paid for), build a turn. So with three towns at different stages on that cycle you get a knight every turn. It is expensive and won't last past the GA (seven turns to go), but by then the Iro will be on the ropes and we will be in mop-up phase. Whompet Gardens is building knights in four without cash rush and good commerce and pop growth.

Built courthouses, markets and banks and jammed another 75gpt into the treasury that way and my working the maximum commerce tiles in the uncorrupted towns.

I have set up a rather complicated shuttle to get the knights across to the battle by water in one turn, rather than 2 or 3 by road.

Start at Avignon, then go to Whompet then Cattaraugus.

Iro are crumbling so keep up the pressure. Keep trading maps for small change and keep your eye on a good bargain for Metallurgy.

Got the plan and the save.

Pre-turn: I check around for all our deals and notice we have a salt deal with Liz for furs and ivory. Since we already have saltpeter in the narrow gap Sesn created I decide to cancel the deal. With that I can trade furs, 3gpt and banking to Caesar for metalurgy. I then look around for the best MT deal. America. Trade 38gpt, furs and wines for MT to the Americans. Upgrade some knights.

IT Cleo seems lost and requests our territory map. K.
860 AD Lose a knight but take out 4 pikes at Tonawanda. Upgrade more knights.

IT See Izumo go from Persia to Iroquois and the Persians raze it back. There's some spices over there. Russians and Babs sign a MPP.
870 AD Land some archer and a LB at tt Chondate island with the horses.

IT See Kiohero established by the Iroquois and it's immediately razed by the Persians. Niagra Falls comes under siege by the Romans who take the city and it's ivory. Americans start Newton's.
880 AD At Chondote our archer redlines the AC in the city and a LB promotes taking the city with its horses and witness the destruction of a elite caravel. At St. Regis we lose a cav but another promotes as we take 2 pikes and the city and we have gems but connected to our capital yet.

IT Babs start Magellans and the Aztecs finish Smith's.
890 AD Take Kahnawake with 2 LB's. Next will be Gangeh which has a harbor and will link our gems. St. Regis is running 24% flip so I move units out of the city.

IT Egypt starts Newton's and finishes Magellans. Greeks switch to Newton's and then the Russians finish Newton's.
900 AD Ganogeh we kill a pike with a cav then take a spear with a elite cav. They must've sold the harbor. Dang.
At Salamanca cav takes a musket and promotes, 2nd cav retreats, elite LB takes a reg musket, 2nd elite bow takes out 2/3 musket and we take Salamanca, SoZ and 5 new workers. St. Regis is at 18% flip and Tonawanda is 9.5%. Ikes.

IT See a lone cav pop out of Allegheny and attack a Roman but is injured.
910 AD Cav whacks a pike and a horse takes a spear and we take pop 1 Osaka in the east and we have another gems city. Destroy Centralia with its horses and get another elite cav victory. Kill a spear/settler north of Osaka and get a couple workers.

IT Not much.
920 AD Manuever

IT We get deposed finally at St. Regis and our GA ends.
930 AD Need to cycle as "we love French culture Day" ends in many cities with the gems back off. Take back St. Regis with another elite win. Trade Japan some iron for physics (had 2 more turns) and econ. Trade dyes, horses, 50gpt, 58g to the Americans for Mag. Trade Mag to Greece for Theory of Gravity and maps. We move into the IA. Aztecs, Russia and Greece have Nationalism. We are at least at tech parity or better with everyone else.

IT Lose a cannon when a LB takes out one of our LB's and it goes into Oka. The Romans make peace with Iroquois. The Babs declare on the English. The Babs have a MPP with the Russians. :) The Russians are loaded with cash and are the tech leader so this may slow things down a bit.

940 AD
Lose a cav but take Allegheny. Decide to raze it since it has no resources and may take some culture pressure off the other Iroquois cities. Take Oka with the loss of a LB and get another elite win.

IT Lots of settlers running around.
950 AD Egypt gets Nationalism. There is a tundra town and Gandasetigan (sp?) left for the Iroquois. Attack Ganda... And voila'!! We get a leader. The leader is sitting in the city awaiting assignment.

SUMMARY
The BL is the Iroquois have one tundra city left. We got a leader on the last turn and I left it open for Sesn to decide what to do with it.

We are at tech parity or better on everyone but 4 civs who have Nationalism. We just had a pile of deals just come due so we have cash to work with (like 176gpt) with lots of happy people. I think we should crank it up for Steam.

However, I didn't MM much on the last turn so please check them before doing anything. I also didn't check the trade situation very well on the last turn. Sorry Sesn.

There are two settlers en route. One can plant on the spot next turn for the spices. The other can back and fill in the Spain area. We'll need more. I established a colony on some more ivory and there's another open that can be settled.

Who should we target next? We have some deals still going but all of them should be checked. My salt deal may be a little risky but we seem to be ok with flip risk in our salt city.

The Babs and English just started a war and the Babs have an MPP with Russia (who has a ton of cash).

There is a city (I forget the name) that is cranking 24 shields but is corrupt. Should we set this city up for a palace pre-build? Worst case is it becomes the capital. Paris ain't doing much in the shield business.

Why not rush the palace in the wealthy city with the leader?

Nice progress. We are on our way after a rocky start.

Pretty sure that goes to me next, right?

Assuming so, I should be able to catch up and play on this tomorrow evening.

I did however notice Whomp was nice enough to give me a MGL as a hand off gift.

:bump:

Any progress, Sesn?

Oh Jesus!

I completely forgot about this. Family in town for my reunion and whatnot. Playing my Sesn03 turns now, I'll do this right after.

Really sorry guys. :wallbash:

Well, I’ve been looking all over the place for this 24s city Whomp mentioned, but I can’t find it. I don’t see any city making more than 15s, in fact. There is a couple cities making 24g, but they aren’t corrupt. :hmm: So I have no idea where the prebuild should be started. It doesn’t look like I’m gonna have many elite chances this set, so I’ll leave him sitting there unless hostilities break out.

Also, I want to point out the tech situation. It is the start of the IA, and unless Whomp claimed a lux in his last couple turns, we are only allowed to research three techs for the entire age, as we have five native luxes. Only silk is being imported of the six we have. Well, does a colony count as “native”?

As far as the next opponent, my vote goes to a quick strike vs Persia once we can reposition, and just take the former Chinese cities before turning on Rome. Will move troops towards Persia.

*hit Enter*

IT – Iro sign Russia into an embargo against us.

960 AD (1) – Amusingly, I waited a turn to grab some cash before starting on Steam so I could overrun the pace a little bit. This turn Russia gets Steam Power. Spice Spice Baby founded. Lot of workers. I hate this part of the game.

IT – Persia and Russia sign MA against England.

970 AD (2) -

980 AD (3) – Ivory Hills founded.

IT – Japan and Iro sign peace. A bit late.

990 AD (4) – Not much here. Watching the Persians storm the last couple Iro cities.

IT – Iro sign Egypt into the embargo against us too.

1000 AD (5) – We lose our spices.

1010AD (6) – Iro down to their last two cities, but I only see one….

1020 AD (7) – Ship Hammurabi Magnetism and 8g for some more silks. One Horse Town founded near Salamanca.

1030 AD (8) – Babylon, Russia, America and Persia all have Medicine now. No one new has Steam though. Our best deal is with Babylon at approx. 2000g and 2 luxes for Medicine.

1040 AD (9) – The Egyptians have a few more units around Spice Spice Baby than I’d like.

1050 AD (10) – This is interesting. Aztecs drop off a MDI next to undefended Orleans in northern England. They also just got Medicine too. Ivory Canal founded in Italy.

Wrap Up – OK, I think I’m done here. I have left all units in England unmoved so the next player can decide what to do about the MDI. There is also a cav in Avignon that could be ship chained over there, if necessary.

All our units are in Fur City and Lyons waiting on Persia. I was hoping they would eliminate Hia for us, but they have dragged their feet for a couple turns now. In fact, their troops have started coming south now. If we prefer Rome, the troops can be sent there just as easily.

The leader, along with the elite* cav are outside Whompet’s Gardens.

Sorry, no pics since everything is still the same, basically.
