It's been a long time since I've posted here (so long in fact that I've completely forgotten my username and password
). I originally came here through Apolyton, where I went to talk with fellow avid Civilization II fans and to chat about the upcoming Civilization III. When I laid hands on my copy of the new game I was instantly addicted, but unfortunately after a while my Mac broke and I had to get a Dell which would not run my copy of Civ III, so I had to give it to my brother.
Some months later I was able to get a hold of a copy of Civ II for the PC and that was fun but...it wasn't really the same. Then for Christmas my grandmother gave me a $50 credit card gift certificate thingy, and couldn't decide what to do with it. Then the other day it hit me: "I could get me another copy of Civ III with that!" So the next day I took the bus down to the local GameStop and was delighted to find out that I could purchase Civ III along with both expansion packs for cheaper than I had gotten the original game. Needless to say, very little sleep ensued.
I just completed my first game. Naturally I wanted to try one of the expansion pack civs so I picked the Dutch, set it on Chieftain because I haven't practiced in a while and led a relatively peaceful game, my giant fascist empire taking over only the Americans before being near-unanimously elected leader of the United Nations. I must say the expansion packs add a lot to the game and I'm absolutely addicted all over again.
One thing I haven't gotten around to yet is multiplayer. I want to hone up my skills again and explore the features of the expansion pack before I venture playing in front of other people. I look forward to finally seeing what a multiplayer Civ game is like, and to chatting about my newly regained addiction with my fellow addicts here at Civfanatics (hey that rhymed).
