i just got c3c and started playing without the patch (i know i was too eager). i'm deep into a monarch game in late industrial. map turned out to be pangea. i'm huge and have a tech lead so it's a sure win. but i'm just discovering from reading the board the numerous bugs.

i just realized my forbidden palace placement is crap in c3c, i placed it far from the capitol. and the unpatched game had this horrible corruption increase bug. where should i move the FP in relation to the palace to gain any benefit from it? i have an extra leader to rush another one

i couldn't figure out where all the money was coming from. i am researching at 100% and still gaining money, and one ai civ has over 50k money. apparently a product of a trade bug.

i really want to play this to the end but these things are getting to me. i have downloaded the patch but it says old save games will not work? what should i do?

If you abandon the city with the FP in, can you build it again? Or is it a one off thing, like great wonders? I ought to give it a try...

Sorry to say, but AFAIK the only thing you can do now is abandon your game or just grit your teeth and bare it.

it's not a very important city. so i guess i can abandon it. think i'll patch the game and lose the save game. too bad since the game was going so well. i just built the first tank in the world too... oh well

Here's a solution that should work:

  • Make a backup of conquests.biq, conquests.mb, and civilopedia.txt
  • Patch the game to 1.22
  • Make a backup of the new conquests.biq, conquests.mb, and civilopedia.txt (patch version)
  • Replace conquests.biq, conquests.mb, and civilopedia.txt by the original files (your first backup)
  • Finish your game
  • Restore the patch version of conquests.biq, conquests.mb, and civilopedia.txt

your reserch is at 100%, your gainign a ton of money, and your complaining?

There was me hoping for some disaster story, I love hearing about humans getting beaten up by the A.I! :yeah:

Alexman, I don't know which stuff is stored where, so I'm not sure of this: Would it be important to update to 1.15 before saving the files, in order to get the modified OCN numbers to go with the changed corruption calcs?

Did the OCN change since Conquests 1.00? I know it changed from PTW to C3C, but I can't remember if it changed since then.

If the OCN did change, then you are right that you would need the 1.15 files to get it. In any case, I think the OCN increase will have a small effect compared to fixing the corruption bugs of 1.00.

I think that OCN was significantly increased, 15 to 25% depending on map size IIRC. That was to partly offset the large decrease in total effective OCN with FP when it no longer formed a separate chain. Increase in the FP-add offset a bit more of the loss, the rest is gone :)

So I guess a 1.00 .biq file with the current .exe would suffer corruption it should not as a result.

The OCN has been increased dramaticly, and I dont understand the forbidden place-and i've been playing conquests since it came out! :)

Or, he could just finish his game then patch it. Btw, how do you make back ups of those files?

But the whole point of this thread was how to finish his game without the corruption bug.

Just rename the files to something else to make a backup.

By the way, I was curious and checked the version 1.00 biq file. The OCN for all map sizes is the same as in the 1.22 biq.

I've checked against PTW and that's where there's the difference which I had incorrectly thought happened in a C3C patch.
Code:
        PTW C3C
tiny 12 14
small 14 17
std 16 20
large 24 28
huge 32 36

Anyway, I guess it would be ok then to patch directly to 1.22 and restore the original .biq, seems unlikely there have been large changes.

I thought that Pre 1.20 saves were incompatible with 1.22. Does changing the .biq file back to the 1.0 get around this?

well i patched the game to 1.22. tried to load the old savegame and it gave some errors. so i guess it really is incompatible. in the future if i ever want to finish the old game i would just reinstall. thanks for all the help guys

now i'm in a great new game. pretty hard start, boxed in by multiple AIs but managed to get both wonders that spit out ancient calvary and crusader every 5 turns. while my greek hoplites held steady. gotta love an all crusader army, 5,3,2, blitz, oh yeah! :king: it's fun beating up bigger enemies with cool units

there was one game before, where i was on a sizable island by myself. eventually met the japanese and got into wars. they made 2 cities on MY continent, so i went to take them back, their last city on my continent was down to a longbowman, i attacked with my last 3-man chariot. i lost and they shipped in reinforcements next turn.

that was the turning point. i was going to sue for peace after sacking that city, but before i could, the japs started getting other AIs to fight me. eventually i was fighting all 15 AIs except one. they finally landed calvaries to crush my spearmen (no iron on the entire island). i was too backwards and poor to even sue for peace, so i gave up :crazyeye:

I had the same problem before I put in the 1.15 beta patch. Install that and your FP should work right and you can play your old save game. Don't install the newer patches before you finish your game.
