What gives? Im at war with Monty, and winning. Im either taking or razing his cities (Id like someone to please give a rationale as to when to do either) yet my score (bottom right of screen) is going down!!! WHY????

Because war weariness makes your cities starve?
Thats what happens to me :p

And i only raze cities when they are retardedly placed by the AI. Too much war to do, don't need any more micromanagement with settlers than i already do ;)

The victory bonus goes down as time goes on. You get your best scores by winning earlier.

I think he means the population+tech+wonder score thingie not complete victory. :)
(i thought you needed a mod to see that anyway?)
ok, so what victory condition is most viable for prince and above levels?

All of them of course.... you can win all victories if you plan them right :D

If you are playing a level that you can barely win at, then you should probably shoot for whichever you are best at out of:
spacerace / diplomatic / cultural. Your favorite of these 3 will probably be the easiest.

If you are playing at a level that is easy for you but you want the highest possible score, go for a domination victory, which is generally more difficult (so is conquest).

Sure it feels good to be on top, but as pointed out in many threads here - score is often misleading. Perhaps you population droped somewhat because you wipped troops or something. If the war is going well dont worry to much about the score.

As for Razing vs Keeping cities. Basicly the citeria are the same as with founding cities with settlers: Is the location useful for your Empire ? Just ask your self, if you would build a city there and if you know a good use for it. If the Answer is yes, and you can afford it, keep it.

There are other factors in Play sometimes - like a city being holy city, having lots of wonders or a enemies capitol - those are usually more likely to be worth keeping.

Mmm...At least in Vanilla you don't need a mod to see both the complete victory and and population+wonders+tech score.:)

Yeah i'm not not that interested in it so i haven't bothered checked the options or looked very closely on those scores :p

Well, cities that you have kept that are in revolt aren't going to be helpful to your score until they come out of revolt, but as they settle down and their borders expand your score should start to catch up.

Also, it is possible that you are falling behind in score because other civs that are not at war are out-teching you...

Couple things:
Rolling over your score will break it down into Techs, Population, Wonders, and Score if Victory is achieved on this turn.
The first 3 are out of a certain number, meaning you can max those out. The last represents a score "bonus". If you win on that very turn, that's what your score will be.

I'm not sure what the exact score formula is, but I can tell you this much: High pop, many wonders, and lots of tech will give you a higher score.
