[BTS] IMM & Deity lets play collection thread - Henrik

I really enjoyed the most recent Huayna Capac AW Isolation madness you just finished on YouTube. AI got a seriously beatdown. Lots to manage with all those units spread out everywhere, but I personally love naval invasions, so it was very fun to watch. Sucks that I can't watch it on screens bigger than my phone right now due to being on vacation, but well worth the time.

@Henrik75

I rolled this ridiculous overpowered Cyrus Deity map right upon returning from vacation and finished it last night. I am not sure if this is your cup of tea, but knowing the map and the opponents now, I think there are lot of options to explore, right from the beginning, even including going settler first.

Out of boredom, I was regenerating maps continuously for close to 10 minutes or so, and this is the result. Not sure if this is your cup of tea, but just thought maybe? ^_^
Settings are Pangaea with everything standard as usual.

If you think you are interested, let me know if you want the WB save.

Behold the GLORIOUS land laid upon you!

This weekend's map, whoever gave it to Henrik, did it include a "not modified" declaration?

Spoiler :

Why Great Lighthouse? Stack of axeman wouldn't work?

Why did you settle next to the corn? Couldn't you settle next to the copper and gems, on a hill, for defense?

i dont like axe rushing, not my style seems way too risky. he also had copper 3 tiles from his capital.
instinctively chose corn settle because food in first ring = good. arguably you could go on the hill for defense bonus although it doesnt mean much if he targets the south city anyway.

@Gwaja
this does look pretty crazy and enjoyable, love the 3 hammer start to 5 turn the boats! holy cow! too bad we dont start with fishing, and im gonna have to keep my scout on those gems so jungle doesn't spread :crazyeye:
definitely something im interested to try sometime. I do have a pretty crazy Cyrus start, always war immortal vs 6 AI coming up, so it'd have to wait a bit but do share the map and i'll put it in my discord server too for others to play.

Re: tokugawa map, I remember watching AZ play that one, seems tough but doable, might try it later on since I just played toku as well. IIRC he elepulted shaka despite a very sloppy opener whipping capital down and some questionable city placements.

@Henrik75

Ooh I see you have a Cyrus AW game going. Good choice! ^_^

The map gets better than what you see here. You will see immediately. One of the craziest maps I have ever seen.

Now I can swap Cyrus with other AI leader in the game, if you wish.

AI in the game: In case you didn't want to be spoiled, but considering it is Pangaea and you can see the AI when opening up WB save anyway, I don't think it is a big deal, but still.

Spoiler :
Churchill, Peter, Mehmed, Fred, Kublai, or Monty

Additional Idea: We can also change it to an "Always War" game with no tech trades either at Immortal or maybe even "Demigod" level per Noble's Club rules where difficulty is set at Deity, but with AI starting with Immortal settings on the initial units and starting techs, meaning they only get 3 archers and 1 settler.

In that case, that marble can be swapped with a stone perhaps?

Ok. It seems like it's been a while since you have played any of the leaders present as AI on the above map. Considering the circumstances with the starting location and the game settings, I have swapped Cyrus with Churchill. So now this game is officially a Churchill game. ^_^

Settings:

Pangaea / Standard Size / Temperate / 6 AI / No Huts / No Events
Always War
No Tech Trading
"Demigod" per Noble's Club Rules: Choose Deity as the difficulty, but AI civs only start with 3 archers and 1 settler, with the proper Immortal starting techs.
Barbarian Techs must be, of course, manually added. Feel free to add in or exclude The Wheel as you like.

**I have also swapped the marble with stone instead. I'd love to see if and what you decide to do with it as Churchill in an AW game**

In my opinion, I think it is a good time for you to crank it up a notch with a slightly tougher challenge. The starting position is an absolute killer. Churchill has good traits for AW in my opinion. Not a full-on Deity, but a slightly nerfed Deity AI at the "Demigod" setting per Noble's Club rule. All this should make it a lot easier than a regular Deity AW, but still maybe a bit more challenging than a standard Immortal AW.

I feel this map, as it is, should be too easy for you, even in Deity, as starting position seems way too strong for a player of your caliber.

Hope you enjoy it!

Questions on the latest Pericles deity game
Spoiler :

You didn't go nuclear because you have principles, right?

Have you considered creating a colony out of captured cities from Brennus? You need 3 cities. Each city gains two free units to absorb attacks. The colony dies quickly but who cares, recapture and found another one.

Henrik's recent games went to the late game. Large numbers (100+) of units on a single tile. What happens when the AI decides to use nukes?

You probably shouldn't do that if they already have ICBMs.. I think you're supposed to lose all the units. But when you do that to the AI not everyone dies for them.

What happens when the AI decides to use nukes?
What code I have see for deciding to use nukes indicates a have nukes + at war (+ furious) -> use nuke logic.

OTOH I remember a game I played long ago, I believe on Immortal, which went into a nuclear war between me (Willem) and Charly. In that single case he only nuked me if a nuke could reach more than about 25 units (as he sees them, so not counting units loaded into transports/carriers). I have also see wars in which the AI would nuke everything, including very minor force concentrations, so in the end I would have to take a better look at the code to say more.

Regarding general gameplay about nukes, there are two main options:
1) ban them ASAP, if possible before anyone builds even one
2) nuke all AI cities that contain nukes or might build them on turn 1 of the war. Try to catch all submarines and missile cruisers. Move units into now empty cities. (Paras and commando units do best)
