Since I talked about doing another map for Imperialism now that I have the swing of things, figuring out bugs and how to get everything up in order I’ve decided to go for a totally ahistorical scenario that asks a bunch of questions:

What if there was no New World?

What if the Eastern Roman Empire never fell apart?

What if England’s long-sought conquest of France proved to be only a pyrrhic victory?

What if the Mongol Khanate declined, but did not disappear?

What if Japan modernized during the Renaissance?
More information to follow soon. :)

Any news on this?
It’s been frozen pretty much since inception since I never really got any feedback. I tried months ago posting on the Frog City Imperialism reddit page, but their goofily-structured members’ only system does not work when they have no active admins. 🤷‍♂️

When Imperialism comes back into my rotation of old games I’ll probably work on it again.

Oh, I see. It's a pity, Imperialism (both games) deserves much more attention than it had and has. For me, it's probably the best old-school 4X along with Civ2/ToT and Master of Magic.

I was thinking about this project for about a week or so and I might start it up again soon, but I can’t give a specific timeline.

In the meantime, I want to work on some concept art and maybe that will push me to get something out. :)

I promised at least concept art, so here's a few flags. Guess where! Should be easy enough.

Just for fun, here's one for a non-playable country.

The Kingdom of England

Following the 200 Years War, the House of Plantagenet had at long last united England and France into a single polity. However, this victory would come at such a great cost it would render both England and France as the impotent backwaters of Europe. The Plantagenet king rules in name only as true political power is wielded by the Pope through the Archbishop of Canterbury. Given that England is in such shambles, the appointment as Archbishop is well-known in Roman circles as a de facto exile, even if it is nominally one of the highest titles in the Roman Catholic Church; bishops who run afoul of the Pope find themselves dispatched to England, far from continental luxury and reduced to adjudicating witchcraft trials and getting the rubber stamp of the often crazy, bedridden, illiterate king.

Those Englishmen who managed to scrounge the resources necessary to flee found great success abroad: Tomas Hobbes, political scholar and advisor to the King of [Redacted] :mischief:; Wouliélmos Shakespearios, Byzantine playwright and rejuvenator of the Greek language; and Jemusu Wato, inventor of the steam engine and first naturalized Anglo-Japanese.

Chinese colony, Mongolian socialist nation, Japan
Mongolian socialist nation? Who would have ever thought of such a novel and shockingly original concept? :p
