I wonder why there are so many units in CIV which we dont use at all! Like the F15s, paratrooper, fighter, TOW infantry, jet fighter and specially the helicopter!
Does anyone think so too? I suggest the units should have a bigger purpose so we dont have always to use the same units in a certain age.

F-15: you know that's the american's UU right? don't you use Jet fighters?
Paratrooper: can be useful for island hopping
Fighter: you don't use it?
TOW infantry: can be useful with helicopter
Helicopter: great fo moving reinforcements quick, load a helicopeter with 3 TOW infantrys, rebase them at a defenseless iasland under attack, right clcik and select each of the TOWs an your island that was defenseless before now has 3 defenders

TOW is the best new unit in C3C. It can defeat a tank, be choptered into a location, and take offensive ground.

I have, taken complete islands using only, using bombardment and airpower and conqueoring them using TOWs.

Paratroopers are quite as strong but have a longer range.

Sure, Helicopters aren't great stand alone weapons, but when combined with other tools (and necessity) they work great.

Fighters (and F-15s) can be improved, but are useful if you have massive bomber attacks. The only other way to stop them is by taking the city, which is usually quite costly.

From what i hear, speciality units will be even more important in Civ 4.

To be honest, I've never used the Americans before :mischief: .
Well nah, I've never built a jet fighter, only my big bombers. The AI doesnt use many bombers against me, pratically nothing.
In my last game, the Celts didnt have oil nor alluminium, so they built masses of TOWs and my modern armors got rid of em very quickly, even being outnumbered.
Helicopter can carry that much  , last time I tryed it just carried 1 paratrooper...
I dont settle towns on islands, specially on defenseless and I can do that with my modern armors too.

The only combination I know would be catapults (depending on the age I am) + my best unit. Its only too bad that catapult-like units have such a low movement value. But I'll try to implement more this strategy you posted, ybbor.

originally it was only one but in C3C they changed it to 3

Cause it's a jet fighter...

And a higher difficulty is quite too difficult for me, I'm playing the 2nd easiest on "more aggressiv AI".
