Increasing Performance on a 'Huge' Map...

I love playing Marathon games on Huge Maps.

Problem is that my Lapytop really isn't up to a huge map. Once I get to around the 1900's it takes ages on a turn (like minutes!). On a Large Map it gets to long for the turns somewhere in the 21st century. When I play a standard map I get no long times and it is perfectly playable throughout.

So, I've tried tweaking some of the graphics settings (turning them off high to medium and turning off anti aliasing but it still seems bad on a huge map). Simple fact is, my laptop just isn't good enough for a Huge map. However, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to increase performance in the game?

My Laptop specs are:

Microprocessor Full Name Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300, Supports Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology
Microprocessor Manufacturer Intel®
Microprocessor Speed (GHz) 1.66
Microprocessor Type Core™ Duo Processor T2300
L2 Cache (KB) 2048.0
Frontside Bus (MHz) 667.0

Memory Speed (MHz) 533.0
Memory Type DDR2-533 SDRAM (PC2-3200) (1x512MB)
Max. Memory (MB) 2048.0
Memory Size (MB) 1.5gb

e NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7400 with TurboCache™ supporting 128MB

Resolution Format 1280 x 800

I've already increased ram from 512mb to 1.5gb.

Thanks, probably a lost cause I know but thought I would ask. :goodjob:

Decreasing the graphics will have little/no effect on turn times. The only thing that will really help is when the game lags as you move across the map.
Huge maps will always take longer between turns because there are more AI's, each of which has a bigger empire than on Standard maps. Therefore, the time between turns will increase due to there being more calculations to do.
The best way to make it faster IMO is to upgrade your processor. I have a 2GHz Dual Core, and although I havent played many Huge maps, I havent noticed much of a problem.

I think you should increased the ram to 2GB as that will help a little bit.
