I did it today but i failed the last goal cause China had 200k population more, it depends a lot on luck though more so then a lot of the other UHV´s, so maybe a tweak might be needed.

The most difficult part for me is the 3rd population goal too. I know fairly early on if I'm not going to be able to get all 5 religions so I just restart.
Only played India once since the recent patch though and I failed the pop goal too. Didnt send Elephants to China early enough.

In my game i couldnt do anything against China, they where to big and to strong but with a stability collapsing/unstable all the time. I kept trying to make them collapse but couldnt manage.
One thing that annoys me is that you cant build up Mumbay, maybe wheat or fish should be added.

Yeah im not keen on the Mumbai site either. In my mind it should be one of the most populous cities but anyway...
For China your best bet is normally to take out their poorly defended fringe cities. Lhasa, Xi'an and Ghanzghou. I used to find (in the past, bear in mind I have only palyed it once to the end with the recent patch) razing 2 of their cities was enough to cause a collapse. Sometimes you can encourage the Japanese to go to war with them too, which helps.
I suppose now that the Khmer are close by you could ask them too but I found last game they were too friendly with China (which didnt help them when I took and razed Hanoi).
The Khmer have given me another idea too. If around 1000AD (20 turns should be enough if you have 6 - 10 Elephants stationed in Patna) it looks like you will be struggling to hit the pop target you could always send Elephants into Khmer territory to capture their cities for the 1200AD goal. They grow fast due to the amount of food so should (im going by memory of their capabilities at the moment) help a lot in hitting the goal. Of course that means war over akward terrain in which you can only use Elephants and they can use everything against you. You would also have to take between 3 - 6 cities instead of just razing a couple of Chinas.
By the way sometimes after collapsing China you still find Arabia outpacing you.

Nah, the area around Mumbai isn't very productive (pop of only 10 thousand in 1600), its just its excellent harborage and the massive civil engineering done by the BIC enabled it to become a huge import/export and manufactoring hub, and import a huge amount of food. Its lack of size in the game is quite realistic.
However there should still be enough food for a decent city in Gujarat early on, maybe with a wheat or something north of the Narmada.

What you say might work in most game but in my last game China had some very well placed cities and all of them over 12-13pop and their army was huge, Khmer was their vassal. When i checked with WB they had a massive army coming my way from the north as well. The UHV is doable though i guess i was a bit unlucky
