Infernal Question

I recently had a game where I spawned the Infernal as the Clan of Embers and swiftly overran them (that was my plan all along so I left them weak on purpose).

Anyway after I had finished the Clan off and established a couple of other City's I noticed that my demonic works couldn't build farms on the Infernal lands, even the ones directly beside fresh water. I thought at first this was a bug because I had some farms on my land after conquering the Clan despite it having converted to Broken Lands etc but figured it was probably intentional.

So (get to the point Corm) I was a bit surprised when I discovered that the various goblin slaves I had captured could still build farms on Infernal land which I promptly done leading to some of my settlements getting rather large (20+).

I'm just wondering if I have possibly found an "exploit" if you like on how the Infernal should be played?

Go easy on me guys this is my first ever post after years of lurking. =o)

The problem isn't that you can build farms, the problem is that your citys are growing from them. Infernal citys are not supposed to require food. They will neither grow from extra food, nor will they shrink from lack of food. There is no reason to build farms as the infernal. The only way to make the citys larger is to use the manes they receive to add population.

Are you certain that your food had an effect on the population?

I did the same thing on my game (first time as the infernals). At first my cities wouldnt grow (i didnt even know about the no food thing) so I spammed farms everywhere and made my citizens work it from the city screen. (when you switch to conquest with the sacrifice the weak civic it's a powerful combo.) Your not susposed to be able to do this?

I hadn't thought of doing that, but it sounds legit. i just ment that the city should not be growing because of the food.

Sorry to bring this old post

Last night, playing as the Sheaim, I delayed bringing the Infernals until my 3 cities had a few buildings for the demons to use. Upon entering, I declared war against the Elohim (too close for my liking :D )... I had waited too long and his monks eat my army... I reload a saved game.

So I declared war on Sheaim... and got moved to another land to settle... nice if I had wanted this from the beginning, which I didn't. Reload. :(

Ok, I declared war on Elohim, entered their lands and then declared war on Sheaim (so I wasn't moved far away from my new cities) ... I lost the game, got the Tweedle rank :( Reload

Tried this 2 more times... the problem seems having no cities and no alies to support you. Reload ( 3 times losing games as Tweedle in the victory rankings... :D )

Moved from the Sheaim lands into free space (not the elohim territory), declared war on them, took their cities and.... NO BUILDINGS!!! except the wonders... I've waited soo long to have markets, libraries, ports, lighthouses, planar gates, etc and I have NOTHING. Several turns later, to make things worse some fool named Basium arrived close by. I still have no army and Basium is already here...

Ok, I will build farms+sacrifice the weak+tower of complacency... cities are not growing ... now what... I can't build farms and the cities don't use them... this is bad...

And a plus to all this the armaggedon counter, which was at 7 (ok, it was low but it was so low because I was building infrastructure for the future), gets reset to cero upon destruction of the Sheaim...

Another plus was something I couldn't explain... the Elohim had their capital with the Octopus religion and they cleared it... I had the founding city and could see another city but not their capital... they removed the octopus but they were not that far in technology to get inquisidor

Listen to Hyborem when you're playing as him. Take some time to peacefully spread the Veil.

Well, I should have bring him much sooner, thats for sure... but being peacefull with him is a bit... ... ...

Maybe the cities that grew with food were cities you conquered?
