What event or person has had a influence in your life. For example:

My grandfather was serving in the Royal Navy when WW2 erupted. His ship was sent to the Pacific. While in the Pacific we had some R & R in Sydney, Australia. While in Sydney he was supposed to meet some girls at Luna Park. However, he and his mates went to the wrong area where he accidentilly ran into a young woman, my grandmother. 5 weeks later he and my grandmother were married. My grandparents were married for over 50 years until 2 months ago when my grandmother died.

Recently I had a brain shock. If Hitler had not invaded Poland and started WW2, my grandfather, never would've gone to war. If he hadn't gone to war he never would gone to Sydney. If he hadn't gone to Sydney he never would've met my grandmother and I wouldn't be here.

So in a strange sort of way I woudn't be here if Hitler hadn't gone and start WW2.

On the other hand however, Hitler did eventually get over 50 million people killed.

Thats like a movie that came out a few years ago, it had a yougn Jewish kid saying his family should be happy Hitler existed because it forced his family to flee to America from the Ukraine, had they not, he wouldnt've been born and his grandparents would be stuck rotting under Russian rule.

The Cold War. Growing up firmly convinced you're going to die horrible in a nuclear holocaust gave me some interesting neuroses and a fixation on gallows humour.
