I find it hard to believe they're finding anything the CIA hasn't. Rossmiller's case is one instance of luck from tens thousands.

Judging from the laughable second link, definitely heroes.
You gotta give both sides of the story man.

No matter how extreme/wrong/crazy you may think the other side is.
IMHO that's how you correct the media bias in America use both sides and then 2 fringe extremists ones to add to the mix. Don't tell people what to believe subconsciously.

Anyways back on topic!!

Having both sides is good, having one viewpoint and then an extremist viewpoint is not. The second link is saturated with propaganda.

What's going to end up happening is one of them getting in over their heads and into trouble. She may have just wanted to find terrorists and blah-blah, but now she's gotten herself all over the national (and probably some international) news... what's she gonna do if terrorists decide to come find her? At best she's costing the FBI and police time and money protecting her and her family (from various other sources, they've moved to a secret address with FBI protection), at worst they end up dead.

I can tell you, most people doing this are just wasting their time. After all, she's apparently been at it for nearly 6 years, and has only managed to catch an idiot. But whatever, if people don't have enough excitement in their lives and stay within the law, let 'em have at it.

What do people think of people who snoop around unpaid to uncover plots against the US government?

Heroes?

Or Evil?

Closer to heroes and evil villains. But I think they should, in general, leave the job up to the government.

By the way, your second link is about as credible on anything relating to the USG as Mein Kampf would be when talking about Jews.

It's always good to have extra eyes out there looking for information.

I was thinking this would be no different than people posing as minors to catch pedophiles. But with this you have the added danger that if you are posing as a terrorist (to catch other terrorists) and the government really was watching you that you would end up being a suspected terrorist yourself!
I'd be very careful about doing this kind of detective work.
