Octavian is undoubtedly working hard on our master city plan, and I (much like many of us, I'm sure) am eagerly awaiting his proposals.

However, there has been alot of discussion about the specific location of our "Iron City" lately, and I figured to put that discussion to an informational poll rather than allow it to threadjack the turn chat thread any longer. ;)

In this image, you will see the full city radius for our third city, which I have affectionately coined "Cha Ching" for the bountiful commerce that city will provide. You will also see the 8 possible city sites that can provide access to the iron ore located in the mountains. The table below provides additional details about each possible tile (including the underlying terrain, if Culture is needed to access the iron, and if it has access to fresh water).

Please take some time to carefully consider these options so that we can choose the best location possible.

Code:
[b][u]Site	Terrain Need Culture?	Water?[/u][/b]
1	Grass+ No Yes
2	Forest No No
3	Grass+ No No
4	Grass+ Yes No
5	Grass+ Yes No
6	Grass+ Yes No
7	Grass Yes No
8	Grass Yes Yes
Note #1: For purposes of this poll, I have included a None of the Above option which should be used if you think we should build our 4th city somewhere else and not adjacent to this particular iron source. If a simple majority (ie. more than the sum of all the site options combined) of people select this option, then we should assume that there is a different region of the world that should be settled before settling near this iron source.

Note #2: I have also included the 'Any Red site' and 'Any blue site' options to really complicate this poll. Essentially, these sites will count towards any site in the respective color groups when totalling the votes.

There is ample reason to overlap in an MP game:
  • tighter builds = less corruption
  • tighter builds = shorter distance to travel between towns = easier to defend
  • most MP games that I hear about are decided long before the Modern Age when the city is capable of growing large enough to take advantage of all 20 tiles
  • and several more...
I personally chose #3 because it allows a nice buffer between it and Shen Ling for another city site (somewhere in the hills) as well as one on the northern coastline (near the fishes) and on the eastern coastline as well.

Site 3: No culture and growth potential.

site 2 and 3 are good, 3 is better though :)

Don't bother making another poll.
